CBS’ ‘Boston Blue’ Adds Mika Amonsen in Recasting From ‘Blue Bloods’

In a new take on CBS’ “Blue Bloods”, titled “Boston Blue“, we’ll encounter a familiar face from the initial series, portrayed this time by a different actor.

Mika Amonsen has been added to the cast of the show, stepping into the role of Sean Reagan, who is the youngest son of Danny Reagan, the main character played by Donnie Wahlberg. Previously played by Andrew Terraciano for 14 seasons, this part will now be taken on by Amonsen in future episodes airing on CBS.

This new TV show, starting production this week, chronicles Danny’s transition from the NYPD to joining the Boston police department. Joining him on screen are Sonequa Martin-Green, Gloria Reuben, Ernie Hudson, Maggie Lawson, and Marcus Scribner.

Sean Reagan, from Amsson’s series, has moved to Boston and joined the Boston Police Department as a patrolman. As described, Sean is dedicated to upholding his family’s legacy but wanted to do so independently, which led him to join a department away from his hometown. Danny’s choice to stay in Boston offers an opportunity for this father and son duo to rekindle their bond on a more profound level.

Back in February, CBS commissioned a new series titled “Boston Blue“. This was two months following the final episode of “Blue Bloods“. Similar to its predecessor, “Boston Blue” originates from CBS Studios. However, unlike its forerunner, a distinct creative team is at the helm: Brandon Sonnier and Brandon Margolis (known for their work on “The Blacklist” and “Alert: Missing Persons Unit“) are the showrunners, while Jerry Bruckheimer and KristieAnne Reed of Jerry Bruckheimer Television, as well as Wahlberg, will executive produce.

Apart from his works on Reacher, Murdoch Mysteries, and Suits, Amonsen’s portfolio is expansive. His representation is handled by Daniel Abrams at OAZ as well as Adam Levine at Amplified.
