CDPR Dev Says Half Of Cyberpunk Sequel’s Quest Team Is Made Up Of Modders

As a long-time fan of CD Projekt Red (CDPR) games and someone who deeply respects the power and creativity of modders, I am absolutely thrilled to learn that half of the quest team for the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 sequel is made up of former modders. This news came from a recent interview with Pawel Sasko, the quest lead and associate game director for the sequel, on Flow Games’ YouTube channel.

Story Highlights

  • CDPR dev Pawel Sasko says that half of the Cyberpunk sequel’s quest team is made up of modders.
  • The studio also has modders in other departments, including a team made solely of them.
  • He praised modders and their immense contributions, advising young people to “go and mod” first.

In a recent interview with Flow Games on YouTube, Pawel Sasko, the quest lead and associate game director for Cyberpunk 2077’s sequel at CD Projekt Red, revealed that more than half of the quest team is composed of talented modders. He acknowledged and commended the significant impact modders have had on the gaming world. According to Pawel, several departments within the studio are collaborating with skilled modders to bring the Cyberpunk sequel to life.

Approximately half of the current team responsible for creating the quests in the Cyberpunk sequel, numbering around 24 individuals, have previous experience as modders. They hail from teams behind games like Witcher, Cyberpunk, and others. Błażej Augustynek, now a quest director, was previously a modder for StarCraft 1 and 2.

Actually, a compact team named Jigsoft comprises solely of modders. They significantly contributed to creating the modding resources for The Witcher 3. The interview delves into the details of how this studio discovered their talents and recruited them to work on CDPR’s projects previously.

In addition, we have a team of modders in other sectors. This team, named Jigsoft, consists solely of these individuals numbering approximately twenty. They aren’t considered outsourced help but rather an integrated part of our team. We collaborate on numerous projects together, and Jigsoft developed the modding tools for The Witcher 3.

CD Projekt Red Has Always Held Modders In High Regards

As someone who has had the privilege of observing and interacting with the gaming community for many years, I cannot stress enough the importance and value of modders and the modding scene. Having seen firsthand the creativity, dedication, and passion that goes into modding projects, I wholeheartedly admire and appreciate these individuals.
