Despite the theater staff eventually summoning an ambulance, Villaverde alleges that they were unkind towards her in their response to the incident.

Initially, I thought the booming sound was just another intense scene from the movie I was engrossed in. But then, a piece of the ceiling crashed down on me. Instantly, I demanded a refund and waited. To my surprise, the theater manager approached me and inquired, ‘How would you prefer to resolve this situation?’ My temper flared, I retorted, ‘What is there to resolve? I’ll take legal action against you! What if it had struck my child instead? Your negligence is appalling!’

Villaverde affirms that the fallen ceiling portion didn’t strike her head, but it was large enough to impact her shoulder, back, knee, and ankle instead. She goes on to say, “I was quite furious.
