Celia Imrie, Penelope Wilton, Catherine Hardwicke, and Jake Lacy are some of the well-known individuals serving on the jury for the 21st HollyShorts Film Festival, which takes place in Los Angeles.
From August 7th to the 17th, this summer’s festival showcases top-notch short films. Winners in four main HollyShorts award categories – best short film overall, best animated short, best live action short, and best documentary short – will automatically qualify for Oscar consideration.

This year, I’m thrilled to be part of the judging panel alongside esteemed colleagues like Hugh Bonneville from “Bridget Jones’s Diary” and “The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel,” Downton Abbey’s Jim Carter (Wilton), Anthony Head from “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” Jennifer Ehle known for her role in “Pride and Prejudice,” Lacy, the star of “The White Lotus,” Essie Davis famed for “The Babadook,” Lewis Tan of “Cobra Kai,” Mena Suvari recognized for her work in “American Beauty,” and Catherine Hardwicke, the director of the 2008 film “Twilight.
The director of the Academy Award-nominated short film titled Anuja, Adam Graves, is also part of the judging panel, alongside journalists such as Ward Bond, Matthew Carey, and Rahmin Zahed, among others. Established in 2005, HollyShorts has evolved into a prominent global hub for short filmmaking. This year’s event boasts more than 400 films poised to leave an impression, selected from a historic 7,000 submissions.
The combined festivities for short films are set to occur both physically at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood and online via Bitpix TV, our official festival streaming platform. This event will reach its climax on August 17th during the awards ceremony, where the victors will be revealed.
