Charli XCX is firing back against the critics from the “Baby Boomer” generation who criticized her use of auto-tune in her performance at Glastonbury over the weekend.
The renowned British artist kicked off her energetic performance at the U.K. music festival by having a flaming ‘Brat’ symbol prominently displayed behind her. She then delighted thousands of fans by playing popular tracks like “365” and “Von dutch”, as well as classic hits such as “party 4 u” and “I Love It.”
In this version, I have attempted to keep the original meaning while simplifying the language and making it more accessible to a wider audience.
At the festival, there was a significant disagreement between Charli, who was performing on the Other stage, and the headliner Neil Young and his band, Chrome Hearts, towards the end of the night. This event created quite a stir within the festivities.
On a Sunday, the artist shared on social media her observations about the feedback she received regarding her Glastonbury performance, being criticized for utilizing autotune. “I’m truly appreciating the vintage-style criticism of my Glastonbury show. It’s incredibly intriguing to me.
In a series of posts, she expressed her opinion as follows: “The notion that employing deliberate auto-tune in your singing makes you a fake or that lacking a conventional band implies you can’t be considered a ‘genuine artist’ is the most tedious perspective I’ve ever heard. It’s so dull, I almost fell asleep.
As a gamer, I’ve got to say, it’s so passé to think that using autotune intentionally makes someone a phony, or that not having a conventional band means they can’t be considered a “true artist.” It’s like, the most stale opinion ever. Zzz… sorry, I must have dozed off there for a second. xx

Following the performance of “Speed Drive,” the singer expressed her preference for thought-provoking discussions. “[As I see it] the most impactful art stirs up debate and challenges, frequently leading to captivating cultural movements instead of being merely acceptable, easily digestible, and quickly forgotten.
She then thanked U.K. outlet The Guardian for the five-star review the publication gave her set.
One of the standout acts in the lineup was Gracie Abrams, who not only graced the stage at Worthy Farm this weekend but was also chosen as Charli’s “Apple” girl. Charli expressed her affection by saying, “I love you so much, Gracie,” while Gracie reciprocated with a shower of kisses toward the camera.

Charli showed her admiration by saying, “I love you so much, Gracie,” and Gracie responded with a sweet display of affection towards the camera by blowing kisses.
After the noisy show, Charli was seen sipping white wine and playing in the rain on stage. Signs flanking the stage expressed gratitude to fans for their continued support. One sign read, “It seems you’ve all shown me that ‘brat’ is eternal.” The other said, “I can’t imagine who I am if it ends.
