As a long-time sneakerhead and collector, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia whenever Jordan Brand releases another iteration of the iconic Air Jordan 9 “Olive.” This silhouette has been a staple in my collection since its initial release back in 1994. The unique blend of olive, black, and red hues instantly transport me back to my childhood, reminding me of the excitement that came with each new Jordan drop.
Air Jordan 9 in Olive Colorway
Thirty-one years ago, Jordan Brand introduced the Air Jordan 9, which has continued to be a popular design in their collection. This classic sneaker is making a strong comeback this year with the “Powder Blue” original version released in March and a Masters-themed colorway from their golf division in April.
The classic “Olive” look of this shoe is being restored and will be available again in its original form this year. Previously, it was released in 2012 and underwent a remix at the start of 2023 with a new “Light Olive” version. Consistent with the timeless design, the “Olive” edition of 2023 starts with a brown nubuck mudguard and heel overlay. The base of the upper is covered in crisp black leather, which matches the sole unit, tongues, laces, and heel tab. Finishing touches include red accents at the sole and heel’s Jumpman branding as well as the tongue tag’s “AIR JORDAN” text.
Currently, Jordan Brand has not announced a release date for the “Olive” version of the Air Jordan 9. Keep an eye out for future announcements, which may include official images. We anticipate that this shoe will become available on November 16 through Nike SNKRS and selected retailers, priced at $210 USD.
