Chhaava EXCLUSIVE: Rashmika Mandanna recalls she couldn't believe being offered the role of Maharashtrian queen; 'I am from South, how can you...'

As an ardent follower of Rashmika Mandanna’s career, I must say her journey never ceases to amaze me! From her humble beginnings to gracing the silver screen alongside some of Bollywood’s biggest stars, it’s truly inspiring to witness such meteoric rise.

Rashmika Mandanna, basking in the triumph of Pushpa 2, is set to appear alongside Vicky Kaushal in Chhaava. Just recently, she reminisced about when she received the offer for this film – she was captivated by the script and promptly agreed. Yet, it left her astonished as to why the director opted for a South Indian actress like herself to portray the character of a Maharashtrian queen.

In an exclusive conversation with TopMob, Rashmika Mandanna opened up about working on the highly anticipated film Chhaava. The actress immediately said yes after listening to the script for the first time, unlike her usual approach of overthinking about every project.

Rashmika went on to explain how she underwent a remarkable metamorphosis while preparing for her role. Reflecting back on her screen test for the movie, she shared that she was taken aback by her appearance after the test. Not only did she don the attire of a queen, but her overall look and demeanor perfectly suited the character she was portraying.

“Look, the test came. Oh my God, guys, I am mind-blown by me in the film. I’m like, this is how I can look like Vicky. I think once said she looks more Maharashtrian than a Maharashtrian. It is actually true because suddenly, my features, my body language, and everything changed,” Rashmika shared.

Additionally, the actress from Animal, when speaking about her role, acknowledged the exceptional efforts of her fellow actor Vicky Kaushal and director Laxman Utekar in the movie. She pointed out that upon seeing the film’s preview and music, she found herself continually impressed by their skills.

Mandanna expressed, “I saw the trailer and listened to one song. Oh my goodness, just like Vicky in the movie, folks, let’s take a moment. Vicky is outstanding, and Lakshman Sir is outstanding too. Oh my goodness, I can hardly contain myself over their talent, it’s simply amazing.

The film “Chhava,” starring Vicky Kaushal, Rashmika Mandanna, Akshaye Khanna, and others, is being brought to the big screen with a daring tale from history. Lakshman Utekar directs this production. Originally scheduled to compete at the box office alongside “Pushpa 2,” the release date has since been moved to February 14, 2024.
