Chibi-Robo Returns After Transferring His Soul Into Another Body

“As a long-time Nintendo fan and avid gamer, I can’t help but feel a pang of nostalgia every time I think about Chibi-Robo, the beloved Gamecube classic that brought us hours of joy and innovation. But, it’s been over six years since we last saw our tiny hero in action, with lackluster spin-offs and disappointing sales preventing a new installment from seeing the light of day.

As a dedicated Nintendo gamer, I’ve been eagerly waiting for a new installment in the Chibi-Robo series for what feels like an eternity. However, disappointing sales and lackluster spin-offs have left this dream unfulfilled. But fear not, fellow fans! Tiny Wonder Studio has taken matters into their own hands and is now developing koROBO – a heartfelt successor to the cherished Gamecube classic in every meaningful way.

Created by Tiny Wonder, a team made up of the original developers (VGC reports), this upcoming game aims to satisfy the Chibi-Robo cravings of many devoted fans. In this title, players will assume control of a diminutive robot character, tasked with keeping the house in order and performing various household tasks for the family. Effectively, this is a fresh addition to the Nintendo franchise, distinguished only by its new moniker.

Enthusiasts eager to back the creation of koROBO by Tiny Wonder can do so by visiting their Kickstarter page and making a financial contribution towards the project. Given the long-standing demand from fans for a new installment in this series, this is an excellent opportunity for them to be part of bringing a comparable experience to life.

“At the heart of koROBO lies the mission of uniting people and striving for a brighter future. This campaign, fueled by your backing, is an exceptional chance to connect video game enthusiasts – an achievement our small hero would be delighted to see!” (Tiny Wonder’s Kickstarter message paraphrased)

Chibi-Robo has been absent from the gaming scene since the release of Zip Lash, a so-so 2D platformer on the 3DS in 2015. Although there have been some spin-offs, fans generally consider the original Gamecube game as the best. It’s quite intriguing that Nintendo hasn’t reimagined this classic for Switch, similar to how they revived Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, but it’s their prerogative.

With growing nostalgia for Gamecube games among fans, there’s a strong possibility that koROBO could spark the creation of a fresh Chibi-Robo title in the future. In the meantime, supporters of this genre who crave a new game can back koROBO on Kickstarter. A launch date for the game hasn’t been set yet, but it could be announced within the next few months.
