Chicago PD Season 12: Who Is Valerie Soto?

Contains spoilers for “Chicago P.D.” Season 12, Episode 17 — “Transference”

Among the tough residents of “Chicago P.D.”, forensic psychologist Valerie Soto (played by Natalee Linez) has faced some particularly challenging situations in her three appearances on the show so far this season. In the episode “Off Switch”, she engaged in a good deal of flirting and shared a passionate kiss with Kevin Atwater (LaRoyce Hawkins), which added a new dimension to his character. This encounter also helped him unravel a case involving multiple murders at a consignment shop. Later, in the episode “Street Jesus”, she reappeared to remind viewers of their casual dating relationship and had to maintain a distance when he was dealing with a very personal homicide case.

In the storyline “Transference”, Valerie becomes a victim of a kidnapping, shocking Atwater. The culprit is one of Valerie’s patients, Nick (played by Jacob Moskovitz), who brutally murders an online harasser tormenting her. He then starts stalking and eventually abducts her. Remarkably, Valerie continues to defend Nick, even when he holds her captive. As a result, Kevin and the team are compelled to use force to break in – unfortunately, Nick does not survive.

Following the events, Valerie finds herself sorting through her emotions with Kevin; she’s accustomed to handling some of the most brutal criminals, but this situation is unlike any she’s encountered before. She confesses to Atwater that she too developed feelings for Nick, a development sparked by taking on his case shortly after the death of her own mother and their emotions for their families becoming intertwined. Despite the case causing tension in her relationship with Kevin, they decide to remain together. On the other hand, Natalee Linez has managed to keep things under control as her career continues to flourish.

Natalee Linez had to struggle to make it in Hollywood

Natalee Linez is a highly sought-after actress, currently playing both Jessica Figueroa on “Book of Power III: Raising Kanan” and Valerie in the same show. This dual role highlights the number of producers eager to have her on their sets. Prior to these roles, she was Nicole in the three-season fantasy series “Siren” and joined the cast of “Tell Me Lies” as Lydia. She has also made guest appearances on shows such as “9-1-1,” “The Good Doctor,” “CSI: Vegas,” and “NCIS: Hawai’i.” Additionally, she can be seen in the Tubi original “Blood, Beach, Betrayal” and the independent film “Natural Disasters.

Linez isn’t just known for acting: she’s also the founder of a company that developed the self-improvement, mental health, wellness, and lifestyle system called “My Magic Mornings.” However, success didn’t come easily to her; she revealed on the podcast “We Audition” that she was turned down 300 times for different roles before securing her role in “Siren.” That level of resilience would surely win approval from Valerie Soto.
