As a dedicated fan of Chinx, whose music brought energy and passion to my daily life, I cannot help but feel a profound sense of sorrow and frustration upon hearing the news of Quincy Homere’s 23-year prison sentence for his role in the senseless murder of this talented artist. My heart aches for Janelli Caceres, Chinx’s widow, who was forced to bury her husband at such a young age and leave her children without their father.
In connection with the 2015 murder of Chinx, one of the two convicted individuals has been given a 23-year sentence in federal prison. Quincy Homere admitted guilt for manslaughter during his court trial in July, which carries a maximum punishment of 25 years.
As per Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz, it’s reported that Homere discharged several bullets towards Chinx (Lionel Du Fon Pickens) during a drive-by attack when Chinx was halted at a traffic light.
Homere conveyed his heartfelt sympathies to the family and all those impacted by this incident, as he shared in a court statement, according to Billboard. He feels that no words can truly capture the depth of emotions stirred by the events that unfolded here.
The situation regarding Jamar Hill, who was a co-defendant with Homere, remains undecided since he’s currently imprisoned due to a different accusation.
Chinx became part of French Montana’s music company and featured in multiple tracks from Montana’s “Coke Boys” compilation albums. In addition, Chinx’s spouse, Janelli Caceres, who was the mother of his three kids, spoke up during the court proceedings as well.
She shared that she was informed she only had two minutes to bid farewell, clutching her mother’s hand as she gazed upon her motionless son, pleading for him to regain consciousness. The heartbreaking reality was that this mother needed to lay her son to rest. At the tender age of 28, I found myself a widow. My children, aged 15, 11 and 4, are now without their father.
