In 2023, Chris Brown denied any wrongdoing when he was charged with assault in London, following accusations that he had physically attacked someone else at a nightclub.
36-year-old American celebrity, who’s currently touring Europe, is under scrutiny for allegedly trying to inflict serious physical harm on music producer Abraham Diaw, following his performance at a Cardiff, Wales venue attended by thousands. The attack, according to the prosecution, was unexpected (unprovoked).
On Friday, BBC news stated that Brown, who is additionally accused of assault causing real physical harm and possessing a harmful object, made an appearance at Southwark Crown Court in London to refute the initial accusation.
He didn’t make a plea on behalf of the others and has a subsequent plea hearing scheduled for July 11. Brown is set to stand trial on October 26, 2026.
As a gamer diving into a different world, I found myself standing before a grand virtual courtroom, clad in a digital blue suit and peering through a pair of black-framed spectacles. A sea of avatars flanked the courthouse, their cheers echoing through the digital halls to show their unwavering support. Once called upon, I stepped onto the virtual dock, my character’s smile beaming as I winked at a familiar face in the crowd, eagerly waiting for Judge Baumgartner’s arrival to begin our proceedings.
Additionally, the other American artist, known by the stage name HoodyBaby and a fellow co-defendant, Omolulu Akinlolu, likewise pleaded not guilty to the accusation of causing severe physical injury.
Last month, Brown was taken into custody at a luxurious hotel in Manchester, following his arrival in the UK for his Breezy Bowl XX tour. He stayed in custody for about a week before being discharged, having settled a £5 million ($6.7m) bond.
The well-known figure with questionable reputation must reside in a British residence until his court case is heard, and he has been instructed to hand over his passport to law enforcement. Yet, he’s allowed to fulfill scheduled performances and get back his passport during travel across Europe for concerts.
At one of the concerts held in Manchester, United Kingdom on a Sunday, Brown expressed gratitude towards his fans for attending and their support. He further mentioned his time spent in custody, saying, “Thank you to the prison,” and added that it had been quite pleasant.
