As a fan, I must say that witnessing Chris Hemsworth playing the drums alongside Ed Sheeran during his concert was nothing short of exhilarating! The man who brought Thor to life and now, a rockstar drummer? Unbelievable!
Approximately 70,000 spectators at Bucharest’s National Arena were in for an unexpected treat during Ed Sheeran’s The +–=÷× Tour (also known as The Mathematics Tour) last Saturday. Indeed, it was none other than Chris Hemsworth who drummed on the song “Thinking Out Loud.”
For the very first time for Hemsworth, a special moment was filmed and will be featured in an upcoming episode of the second season of his National Geographic’s Disney+ original series Limitless With Chris Hemsworth. Although the exact air date is not yet known, it is expected to premiere in 2025. “I managed to get Chris Hemsworth to learn to play drums for my stadium show,” Sheeran announced on Instagram just after the performance.
In the video, Sheeran mentions that Hemsworth contacted him about a documentary focusing on cognitive health and the advantages of mastering an instrument. Sheeran added that Hemsworth had actually come to visit him and learned the drums as a result. Later, Hemsworth confessed he’d been contemplating this skill acquisition and expressed his hope to use it as a means to unwind, saying “I look forward to practicing it before going to sleep.”

In the TV show “Limitless,” Hemsworth consistently tests his physical and mental abilities to conquer fresh obstacles, aiming to stay sharp and prolong his life effectively. In the production of the second season, Tom Watt-Smith and Jane Root serve as executive producers, while Arif Nurmohamed takes on a co-executive producer role for Nutopia. The team of executive producers also encompasses creators Darren Aronofsky and Ari Handel from Protozoa Pictures, along with Hemsworth, Ben Grayson, and Brandon Hill from Wild State. For National Geographic, Bengt Anderson and Simon Raikes are executive producers, with Tom McDonald serving as the executive vice president of Global Factual and Unscripted Content. The first season is currently available for streaming on Disney+.
