Chris Rock to Direct and Star in ‘Misty Green’ for Neon

As a long-time admirer of Chris Rock‘s comedic genius and versatile acting skills, I can’t help but feel thrilled about his latest endeavor, “Misty Green.” His unique ability to weave humor into poignant social commentary has always been captivating, and this new project seems set to continue that trend.

Chris Rock is looking to tackle Hollywood with his new feature Misty Green.

In the upcoming movie set to premiere next week at the American Film Market, the actor Rock is cast alongside a leading star. Neon International is in charge of distributing this production internationally, while CAA Media Finance takes care of its domestic distribution within the United States.

Misty Green originates from a script penned by Rock and revolves around a gifted actress whose career growth has been hindered by personal vices. However, her life takes an unexpected turn when a director (Rock) presents her with a custom-made role that could potentially rejuvenate her journey. Yet, the scenario becomes intricate due to their tumultuous history.

Production is currently being organized for the movie, which has Rock and Peter Rice serving as producers, joined by James Lopez from MACRO Film Studios and Tommy Oliver from Confluential Films. Executive production duties are handled by Charles D. King from MACRO Film Studios and Codie Elaine Oliver from Confluential Films.

Chris Rock, who has steered projects like “Head of State” (2003), “I Think I Love My Wife” (2007) and “Top Five” (2014), has been active in various recent endeavors. One notable project is his 2023 Netflix special, “Chris Rock: Selective Outrage,” where he addressed the incident involving Will Smith at the Oscars the previous year. Besides this, he’s also appeared in the films “Rustin” and “Amsterdam,” as well as on the FX show “Fargo.

Rock is represented by CAA, Untitled Entertainment and Yorn Levine.
