The upcoming revival of “Malcolm in the Middle” on Disney+ is bringing (almost all) of the original show’s main cast back together again.
Christopher Masterson and Justin Berfield, along with their former castmates Frankie Muniz, Bryan Cranston, Jane Kaczmarek, and Kiana Madeira (who plays Malcolm’s girlfriend in the show), are all set to appear in a four-episode revival of the original series. Additionally, Caleb Ellsworth-Clark, Anthony Timpano, Vaughan Murrae, and Keeley Karsten have also joined the cast for this new season.
I’m thrilled to share that Masterson and Berfield are set to return as my older siblings, Francis and Reese, respectively, in the upcoming series. Ellsworth-Clark, known for his chilling role in ‘Nightmare Alley’, will step into the shoes of the younger brother Dewey, a part previously played by Erik Per Sullivan during the 2000-06 run on Fox. Sullivan, who last appeared on screen in the 2010 film ‘Twelve’, has decided to pursue other endeavors outside of show business.
In the upcoming series, Timpano takes on the role of Jamie, the fifth offspring of Hal (portrayed by Cranston) and Lois (Kaczmarek). Jamie was introduced as a baby and toddler in the later episodes of the original show. Murrae plays Kelly, the youngest child of the family, who was absent from the initial series. Lastly, Karsten will portray Leah, Malcolm’s daughter, who shares her father’s intelligence but is more sensitive and emotional, much like him.
Back in December 2024, I was thrilled to learn that Disney+ greenlit a revival of “Malcolm in the Middle.” Come the new year, I’ll be diving back into the world of Malcolm and Leah, as they find themselves once again embroiled in the madness that is their family. It seems Hal and Lois are planning a big 40th anniversary party, and they’ve invited our favorite mischief-maker, Malcolm, to join the festivities!
The original series’ creator Linwood Boomer is penning the revival, serving as its executive producer. This new version hails from 20th Television and New Regency. Bryan Cranston, Tracy Katsky of KatCo, Gail Berman, and the exec team at New Regency consisting of Arnon Milchan, Yariv Milchan, and Natalie Lehmann are also executive producers. Ken Kwapis takes on the role of executive producer as well as director for all four episodes. Jimmy Simons and Laura Delahaye serve as co-executive producers.
