The design company, CIGA, has introduced the Black Star Edition of Blue Planet II, a remarkable partnership with Swiss studio Label Noir. This revamped version of their Blue Planet series offers a celestial perspective.

Steering away from Earthly themes, the Black Star Edition takes us on an interstellar journey by featuring a dial resembling a black hole. At its core is an 8.5mm concave depression painted with Super Black pigment, absorbing 99.6% of light to give the impression of a void. Radiating outwards from this are intricate spiral galaxy designs, subtly shaded using CMYK gradients. A glowing polar star hand floats above these patterns, rotating to show the passage of time.

This watch boasts a 46mm Grade 2 titanium case, coated in black DLC, coupled with a sleek black fluororubber strap and a secure folding clasp. The crystal glass is made of sapphire, ensuring resistance to scratches and providing anti-reflective transparency. It can handle water up to 3 ATM depth.

Within this watch, an automatic movement known as CD-04-S (made in Switzerland) is at work. It employs CIGA Design’s exclusive Asynchronous-Follow Technology. This mechanism rotates the hour dial by 30 degrees and the minute dial by 390 degrees, resulting in a smooth and user-friendly single-hand time display. With a vibrations per hour (vph) rate of 28,800, this watch provides approximately 41 hours of power reserve.

Retailing at $1,980 USD, the Label Noir-collaborated Blue Planet II Black Star Edition watch is currently available via CIGA design’s official
