As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for Hollywood and Bollywood trends, I must say that Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s journey into the world of action is nothing short of inspiring. Her choice to take on roles that break stereotypes and push boundaries is commendable, especially in an industry where women are often relegated to passive roles.
Actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu is gearing up to demonstrate her formidable action abilities in the series “Citadel: Honey Bunny,” alongside Varun Dhawan. In a recent post, she expressed her excitement about performing in an action-oriented show and commended fellow actresses Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone, and Katrina Kaif for embracing action roles and challenging traditional norms. She exclaimed, “It’s incredible to see women assert their power.
In a recent chat with PTI, Prabhu said, “I’m glad I discovered a new facet or genre that gets me excited, which is action. Many actresses are indulging or diving into action, like Alia is doing action, Deepika and Katrina (Kaif) have always done action, Disha (Patani) and Kiara (Advani) are doing it now, and Kangana (Ranaut) has done action. Anushka (Shetty) has done action. It is amazing for women to take control“.
The actress happily confirmed that she was glad to keep the role, mentioning that she had long aspired to play a feminine interpretation of James Bond. She considers Citadel: Honey Bunny as the role most similar to embodying a spy in a similar fashion.
She added that playing a spy and engaging in action scenes is something nearly every actor aspires to. Calling James Bond an ultimate role, she noted that actors feel a thrill in tackling action scenes, and for her, the experience was especially exhilarating.
During an interview with Etimes, Samantha shared insights about her connection with Varun Dhawan on set, emphasizing the importance of their bond, particularly during demanding action scenes where they needed to work together seamlessly.
She found it incredibly difficult and taxing to synchronize her actions and maintain coordination with them.
Beyond the formidable pair, I’m proud to be part of a series boasting an outstanding ensemble, featuring actors like Sikandar, Kay Kay Menon, and Kashvi Majmundar in pivotal positions, along with several other talented individuals.
The film “Citadel” promises an unprecedented blend of action, emotion, and cinematic experience. It’s the Indian adaptation of the Russo Brothers’ project, starring Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden. For those who may not know, this is also the debut shared-screen appearance of Varun and Samantha.
Citadel: Honey Bunny will stream on Amazon Prime Video from November 7, 2024.
