- City Life Game with Friends is the somewhat tedious title for EA’s new Sims spinoff
- It sees players making their own avatar and experiencing social city living
- Complete minigames and quests to unlock new cosmetics
For those longtime readers who have been following us, you might have noticed our recent debut of a site dedicated entirely to The Sims, a series that continues to captivate many. Some of these devoted readers may have also taken a look at my brief rundown of the upcoming game Project Rene, which focuses on social interaction. Now, it appears Electronic Arts is subtly testing out this project under an unassuming City Life Game with Friends.
To put it simply, Project Rene appears to be shifting its focus towards social gaming, similar to Haegin’s Play Together, with city life revolving around this concept. Furthermore, the game seems to introduce a work-life balance within a local café setting, where progression and unlocking new cosmetics are tied to in-game activities related to working at the café.
Put simply, from a pessimistic perspective, one might liken this to SimCity 2014 within the series. Yet, considering its freshness and the beginning stages of its launch, it’s important to remember that there’s plenty of room for improvement and potential growth.
City Living
If Electronic Arts (EA) emphasizes social multiplayer gameplay in their latest Sims release, they might face stiff competition. Platforms like Roblox boast numerous games (ranging from dozens to hundreds), many of which provide role-playing experiences akin to the Sims.
However, it’s worth noting that The Sims are already available on mobile devices. Thus, the question arises: Will City Life be a success or a flop? Time will tell, but stay tuned as we share our initial thoughts and previews right here and over at The Sims News.
