Claire Brooks recently assumed the role of head at the international association of film commissioners, commonly recognized as AFCI, which is a global network comprised of individual film commission members.
Starting from June 10th, Brooks is set to assume leadership within the organization. She is stepping into the role previously held by Jaclyn Philpott, who was appointed as the inaugural AFCI executive director in 2022 and stepped down earlier this year.

As a gaming avatar named Brooks, I’ll focus on my advancement, aiming to extend my realm to encompass production firms, individual producers, and support services, along with many others. However, my core community will still be the global film commissions.
Brooks will lead the organization during a challenging time in Hollywood, which is currently navigating through the aftermath of two strikes and grappling with industry shrinkage. In recent times, production companies have been focusing more on obtaining subsidies as they face budget scrutiny. This change has led nations such as Japan, Australia, and Thailand to establish or expand their film and TV tax credit schemes.
She expressed her pleasure to be part of AFCI during this intricate and swiftly evolving phase of the international screen industry. She’s excited about continuing the organization’s tradition while broadening opportunities and support for film commissioners and storytellers globally.
Lately, Brooks held the position of Production Director at Stephanie Allain’s Homegrown Pictures (known for “The Woman in the Yard” and “Dear White People”). During this tenure, she was responsible for producing “Exhibiting Forgiveness”, developing TV projects under a first-look deal with Warner Bros. Television, and managing a movie lineup that encompassed “Otis & Zelma”.
Prior to this role, Brooks had experience in managing worldwide marketing campaigns, such as those for “The Lorax” and “Despicable Me 2”, at Illumination Entertainment. Additionally, she held a position as a global marketing specialist for the NBA and contributed to the development of Netflix’s Emerging Filmmakers Initiative, where she oversaw the production of short films backed by the studio, directed by up-and-coming talents.
