Claude Monet’s ‘Nymphéas’ Going Up For Auction

Claude Monet's 'Nymphéas' Going Up For Auction

As a seasoned art enthusiast and gamer with a knack for history, I must say this auction at Christie’s has me utterly thrilled! Having spent countless hours immersed in virtual worlds, I can’t help but draw parallels between the pixelated landscapes of my favorite games and the breathtaking beauty captured by Monet in his Nymphéas series.

As a dedicated admirer, I’m thrilled to share that the esteemed auction house, Christie’s, is set to offer Claude Monet’s iconic masterpiece, Nymphéas, at auction. This extraordinary painting hasn’t graced an auction block since it was first unveiled a remarkable 125 years ago, making this event a truly historic moment for art enthusiasts like myself.

Back in the late 1890s, I was captivated by a masterpiece Monet created – one that originated from his very own water-lily pond at Giverny. This painting is legendary because it was among the first of its kind, sparking a series of iconic works to follow. Part of Monet’s initial “Water Lilies” series, this piece showcases various sizes, hues, and intricate details, all aimed at leaving an indelible impact on viewers like me.

Remarkably, this artwork by Monet stands out for being his initial piece without a horizon line. Instead, it’s tightly framed to draw attention to every minute detail visible on the water’s surface.

Christie’s Asia Pacific’s deputy chairman and head of 20th/21st century art, Cristian Albu, expressed pride in presenting Claude Monet’s “Nymphéas” masterpiece for auction first time at Christie’s Inaugural Evening Sale at The Henderson. Being one of the few surviving rare pieces from Monet’s initial Water Lilies series that remains in a private collection, while most others are housed in museums worldwide, this painting is a unique, valuable treasure indeed.

On the 26th of September, the auction for the artwork will be held at Christie’s main office in Asia Pacific (Hong Kong). The painting is anticipated to sell for between $25 million and $35 million US dollars.
