Closer Look at Above the Clouds' Third ASICS GT-2160 Collaboration

As a seasoned sneakerhead with over two decades of collecting under my belt, I must admit that the latest collaboration between Above the Clouds and ASICS has truly piqued my interest. Having witnessed the evolution of sneaker culture from its humble beginnings to the global phenomenon it is today, I can confidently say that these GT-2160 releases are a testament to the industry’s growth.

Above the Clouds, an Australian sneaker retailer, has collaborated with ASICS on several projects centered around the GT-2160 model. They launched a “Cream/Shamrock Green” version of the shoe in October, which was warmly received by sneaker enthusiasts globally, leading to a planned 2024 campaign with three colorways for the shoe, hinted at on Instagram towards the end of last year. Although the “Cream/Chocolate Brown” variant was released recently, fans are eagerly anticipating the black and white versions that were previously displayed.

With just a few months left in the year, let’s take a closer look at the previously mentioned black and white pairs. Let’s start with the white one. Its mesh and synthetic structure predominantly features white, with a see-through section reappearing at the front. Silver is present on each side of the shoe, adding a sparkle to it, as well as adorning the tongue and heel logo. Moving onto the black pair, it uses different shades of gray and black across its matching structure, with silver appearing on both the heel and tongue too.

Currently, neither Above the Clouds nor ASICS have announced the specific date for their upcoming GT-2160 drop. However, they hinted in a late 2023 Instagram post that it will occur this year. Keep an eye out for updates as we anticipate both pairs to become available within the next few months through Above the Clouds, ASICS, and various retailers at a starting price of $167 USD each.
