A fresh clown has arrived in town, carrying on the same level of chaos as the rest. Another fictitious jester is stepping out from the pages onto the silver screen, and the only thing nice about him is his name. Shudder, known for its reign in indie horror films, is set to continue this trend with an upcoming novel adaptation that’s bound to leave those with coulrophobia (fear of clowns) queasy. The horror producer and streaming service has recently unveiled the first trailer for “Clown in a Cornfield,” and it’s as brutal and comical as one might imagine.
As a huge fan, I’m excited to share that the creators behind the hit show “Smile” have unveiled another chilling masterpiece titled “Clown in a Cornfield.” In this terrifying tale, Katie Douglas, famously known for her role in “Ginny & Georgia,” stars as a daughter who, along with her father played by Aaron Abrams from “Hannibal,” endeavors to acclimate to their new town that has been shattered by adversity and is now tormented by an ominous clown named Frendo. Here’s the official summary of the movie, which is adapted from Adam Cesare’s horror novel trilogy:
“Clown in a Cornfield” follows the harrowing journey of a father-daughter duo as they attempt to find solace and rebuild their lives in a town that has been scarred by hardship. However, their peaceful existence is disrupted when an ominous clown known as Frendo emerges, threatening to shatter their fragile tranquility with his sinister presence.
Quinn and her father recently relocated to the peaceful town of Kettle Springs, seeking a new beginning. However, they find a troubled community struggling after the Baypen Corn Syrup Factory’s devastating fire. As arguments escalate among the residents and emotions run high, an unsettling clown named Frendo appears from the cornfields, promising to rid the town of its troubles through violent acts. Prepare for excitement in Kettle Springs as Frendo the clown steps onto the scene.
Killer Clowns Will Never Get Old
Even though some horror enthusiasts are weary of the recurring theme of murderous clowns, it remains a powerful motif in many horror narratives. If you’re seeking to feel on edge and experience eerie carnival-themed nightmares for a while, you might want to research the iconic horror clowns that have graced our screens over the years. Among them, you’ll likely discover Pennywise and Art the Clown – two of the most renowned terrifying clowns in today’s market.
In contrast to Pennywise, who originates from a famous horror novel like Frendo, Art is an original character, born from an independently produced film. However, there are numerous terrifying clowns existing in various works that distort the traditional image of these entertainers into something nightmarish. Interestingly, the popularity of killer clowns has significantly boosted Cesare’s novels, leading to a massive readership for his books such as The Church of Frendo and an upcoming fourth one.
This upcoming prequel series featuring clowns on Max Television, set to air this year, seems to suggest that creepy clowns continue to be a part of our entertainment landscape. If you weren’t previously wary of clowns, the show “Clown in a Cornfield” might just make you reconsider your feelings about these colorful jesters.
