As a fashion enthusiast with over three decades of personal style evolution under my belt, I must say that Coach’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection truly resonated with me. The blend of nostalgic motifs and contemporary design elements is something that speaks to both the young and seasoned fashion aficionados.

On Monday afternoon, the Coach brand moved swiftly from their global headquarters to present their Spring 2025 collection on New York City’s High Line. Consistently, Coach reinvents iconic NYC locations as runways (think back to shows at the New York Public Library and Park Avenue Armory in previous seasons). For this September showcase, they opted for a vibrant display with their models strutting around an oversized red tree sculpture situated on the High Line’s Spur.

Stuart Vevers, the creative director, envisioned Spring’s style presentation to depict genuine clothes set within an authentic, contemporary urban backdrop. In his words, “I wanted to display real clothes in a real, relevant, urban setting, but we’re updating these garments with the ideals of a new generation who are just discovering these pieces.” Vevers’ fashion sensibilities are geared towards Gen Z, evident through the selection of youthful, trendy models, the playful trinkets adorning his bags, the versatile satin slip dresses perfect for urban get-togethers downtown, and the laid-back styling of loose pants reminiscent of skate park attire.

Vevers stated, “This collection features numerous aspects that reflect the individual’s character. We’ve taken common design elements and customized them to suit each wearer, by adjusting proportions, styling, and whimsical embellishments. These changes challenge traditional notions of luxury. What I believe is truly precious nowadays is something that feels personal.

On the other side, T-shirts featuring graphic designs that blended New York pop and rock’n’roll themes could be found, alongside tops inspired by memorabilia from the 1940s. All these items were showcased under Vevers’ modernized renditions of his recycled cardigan jackets and tuxedo coats. Meanwhile, Coach’s (Re)Loved initiative, which renovates and resells vintage Coach items with personalized touches, expanded this season, offering a broader choice of denim pants, motorcycle skirts, and aviator jackets crafted from recycled materials.

I upped my game in the world of leather goods, crafting enormous backpacks and quirky clutches – from heart-shaped, star-studded, to lip-kissed and even dinosaur-themed! Each piece was adorned with Coach Frame hardware for that extra touch of cool. To complete the eccentric vibe, Coach introduced their Soho Sneakers, embellished with a variety of stickers and resin charms resembling taxi cabs, cassette tapes, and other vintage-inspired trinkets. Yep, it’s all about that Gen Z charm once more.
