Cobra Kai Season 6 Still Doesn’t Give Fans The One Fight They Really Want

Cobra Kai Season 6 Still Doesn't Give Fans The One Fight They Really Want

As a longtime fan of the “Karate Kid” franchise and avid watcher of “Cobra Kai,” I have to admit that I was really looking forward to seeing Johnny Lawrence finally go toe-to-toe with Chozen Toguchi in Season 6. The buildup in the premiere episode had me on the edge of my seat, eagerly anticipating the moment when these two iconic adversaries would face off. However, I was left feeling a bit disappointed and let down when the much-hyped fight never actually materialized.

In the initial part of “Cobra Kai” Season 6, things start off relatively calm. Terry Silver is absent, John Kreese is in hiding, and Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence’s bond has grown stronger, despite their ongoing disagreements regarding karate ideologies. The season opener hints at a significant clash, one that viewers have long anticipated. However, contrary to expectations raised by the “Cobra Kai” Season 6 trailer, the highly-publicized face-off between Johnny and Chozen Toguchi doesn’t materialize.

During the discussion about rebranding the recently merged Eagle Fang and Miyagi-Do dojos, Johnny and Chozen become more adversarial towards one another, ultimately deciding to engage in a fight to determine the name. This development is exciting for “Cobra Kai” fans who have long debated which fighter is superior, as Johnny and Chozen from “The Karate Kid” and its sequel have never faced off before. Regrettably, their rivalry continues beyond the episode.

Instead of insisting on fighting despite the issue being resolved, Johnny and Chozen turn their confrontation into a lighthearted sparring session at Daniel’s expense. Ultimately, they decide to call off their fight and tease Daniel instead, much to the surprise and potential disappointment of viewers hoping for a more serious clash between the two adversaries.

Will Chozen and Johnny ever fight for real?

Chozen, who joined the show later than most major characters, is still untested against several key figures in the series. He’s the only Miyagi-Do trainer left to face off against Kreese, but given their minimal interaction throughout the franchise, a fight between them might not be as captivating. Instead, it would be intriguing to see how Chozen matches up against Johnny, who were significant antagonists in the early Karate Kid films. Moreover, their distinct fighting styles and training methods, with Chozen’s “Cobra Kai” approach contrasting significantly from Johnny’s brand of karate, would add an exciting dynamic to their potential confrontation.

In an unexpected turn of events, “Cobra Kai” Season 5 brings Chozen and Johnny closer together through their shared past with Daniel. They end up teaming up against a common enemy. However, it’s only a matter of time before these longtime adversaries clash for real. Given the nature of “Cobra Kai,” which thrives on nostalgia and fan service, it seems inevitable that we’ll eventually witness the highly anticipated battle between Johnny and Chozen. The series has been building up to this moment since “Peacetime in the Valley” with its playful hints and promises of the fight, only to briefly hold back before unleashing an epic showdown.
