Cobra Kai Unveils Shocking Mr. Miyagi Secret That Will Change Everything for Daniel!

The popular series Cobra Kai has concluded following the unveiling of its third and last installment on Netflix. The latter half of the final season was particularly grim, with all students performing poorly at the Sekai Taikai tournament, and Daniel (Ralph Macchio) struggling as well. His unease stemmed from discovering an old collection of Mr. Miyagi’s (Pat Morita) possessions hidden beneath the floorboards in his house, causing him to ponder the true identity of his mentor. For most of the second release, Daniel’s pursuit of truth cast a shadow over the series. Happily, the concluding episodes offer a fitting resolution for both Daniel and viewers alike.

What Did Daniel Learn About Mr. Miyagi That Upset Him?

Initially thrilled about the discovery of Miyagi’s artifacts, Daniel’s mood shifts dramatically somber when he comes across a news article from 1947 mentioning someone with his last name (but a different first name), who was sought for assault charges.

A Sekai Taikai headband stained with blood implies that Miyagi not only took part in the competition, but his fight turned aggressive or violent. It puzzled Daniel because Miyagi had often criticized tournaments and competition. In fact, he informed Daniel in “The Karate Kid” that participating in any tournament was a first for him.

Following a series of clues like breadcrumbs, Daniel discovers that Miyagi was involved in a brutal altercation where he assaulted a man and stole a valuable necklace. Fearing arrest, Miyagi escaped America. Regarding the tournament in Barcelona where Miyagi seemingly competed, Daniel becomes so fixated on uncovering the truth that he abandons the arena, pursuing what seemed to be a promising lead. Unfortunately, this lead turned out to be Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith) attempting to lure him on.

In conclusion, Silver hands over documents related to Miyagi’s battle to Daniel, proving that the person he fought perished. This revelation deeply saddens Daniel, and it becomes even more distressing when tournament organizer Gunther (Carsten Norgaard) verifies the documents’ authenticity. This moment in the series takes a particularly grim turn.

The Explanation For Mr. Miyagi’s Misdeeds

In the last six episodes, Daniel (and viewers alike) ultimately receive answers in quite an unforeseen manner. At the LaRusso family dinner, Lucille LaRusso (portrayed by Randell Heller) surprises Sam (Mary Mouser) with a gift box for her high school graduation. After the customary “you didn’t have to” remarks, Sam unveils the box to find a beautiful pearl necklace inside.

Daniel was taken aback and fretted that the necklace might have drained his mother’s savings. However, Lucille disclosed that it didn’t cost her a dime at all. Interestingly, Miyagi had given the necklace to Lucille many years back. It once belonged to his own mother and when she passed away, his father gifted it to him before he left Okinawa. The intention was for Miyagi to sell it if he ever needed money in a pinch. However, the sentimental value of the piece was too strong, so Miyagi held onto it all these years. Upon meeting his wife, he presented it to her instead.

In the war where he served, it’s well-known among fans of The Karate Kid that Miyagi’s wife died in an internment camp. However, what they didn’t know was that a guard took his necklace. As Daniel reads a newspaper clipping, he says aloud, “he did what he needed to do,” almost to himself. He figures out the likely scenario. Daniel deduces that Mr. Miyagi tracked down the thief and took whatever action was required to get back the stolen necklace. Lucille verifies that the guard attacked Miyagi, so he “had to knock the villain unconscious.

Before he died, Miyagi handed the necklace to Lucille with instructions to pass it on to Samantha when the moment was suitable. In her opinion, that moment had arrived. She hadn’t realized that it wasn’t just the right time for Sam as she prepared to go to Okinawa, but also for Daniel, who urgently needed that resolution. With Daniel managing to come to terms with his feelings about this and understanding the justifiable reasons behind the theft and assault allegations, he was once again complete. He had, as Miyagi had shown him so wisely, achieved balance.
