As a seasoned gamer with a knack for sports and fashion, I must say that the Coco G2 sneaker by New Balance has truly caught my eye! Having followed the remarkable journey of Coco Gauff from her humble beginnings to the prestigious stage of the 2024 Paris Olympics, it’s heartening to see her personal touch in this new design.
As the proud flag bearer for Team USA at the 2024 Paris Olympics, sharing the moment with legendary athlete LeBron James, I’m thrilled to announce my return to New York City, where I will unveil an updated edition of my signature shoe from New Balance – the Coco G2. This exciting development comes two years after the launch of my first signature sneaker, the CG1. Designing and collaborating on the CG2 has been just as enjoyable for me as working on the CG1. The Coco G2 truly embodies my unique style and personality.
The revamped CG2 model bears some resemblances to the CG1, particularly its mid-top structure and vintage aesthetic, but it’s also heavily inspired by the 550, a design beloved by athlete Coco Gauff. Geometric elements in the design pay homage to the architecture of Paris, a city admired by Gauff, while the oxidized blue and firefly colorway mirrors the vibrant energy of New York City and the US Open. Additional details include a tennis ball on the tongue instead of the usual basketball label from the 550, as well as the number “2” engraved on the right heel tab. The model is further enhanced with diverse textures such as diamond knit mesh around the collar, heel, and tongue, and suede overlays on the saddle.
Despite its looks, the CG2 shoe is designed for optimal performance. Its FuelCell midsole, reinforced with a carbon fiber plate – reflecting the latest trend in athletic shoes – ensures efficient energy management. Additionally, the Ndurance outsole provides both grip and durability to prevent slips.
Starting tomorrow, I’ll be able to cop the fresh new CG2 sneakers, priced at $170 USD, directly through New Balance. For all you folks in town for the US Open, don’t miss out on the exclusive Coco’s Court pop-up happening on August 23rd and 24th. You’ll get an immersive experience, personally curated by the talented Coco Gauff herself!
