Coldplay has joined forces to reinterpret a beloved version of Stromae and Pomme’s song “Ma Meilleure Ennemie” titled “Arcane“, which stands out as an extended edition in the season two soundtrack for the show, that was launched on Friday by Riot Games and Virgin Music Group.
This new addition enriches an already illustrious music collection for the second season of Netflix’s animated series modeled after the famous game “League of Legends“. Besides Twenty One Pilots, Stray Kids, King Princess and D4vd, additional artists have also contributed. However, among all tracks, “Ma Meilleure Ennemie”, which means ‘My Best Enemy’ in French, has been one of the standout songs for season two, boasting a staggering 335 million streams on Spotify so far.
Among other hits, such as “Enemy” by JID and Imagine Dragons, which is second only to it, the theme song for the show and the lead single on Arcane’s season one soundtrack stands out. Riot Games reported that the season two soundtrack has accumulated over 1.5 billion streams since its release in November last year. The latest rendition of “Ma Meilleure Ennemie” includes vocals from Elyanna, a Palestinian-Chilean singer.
Coldplay expressed their affection for Stromae and Pomme, admiring the lovely song they created for Ekko and Powder. They are thrilled to be part of the remake and contribute to the world of Arcane and League of Legends,” said Coldplay in a statement.
According to Stromae’s statement, he, Pomme, and Riot Games decided to surprise their fans with an additional gift: inviting an artist they greatly respect to collaborate on a project. For a long time, Coldplay has served as a significant inspiration for Stromae, making them the ideal choice. Once approached about joining the venture, Coldplay agreed immediately. Stromae is overjoyed about this collaboration and the outcome is truly remarkable.
Apart from the new Coldplay feature, the expanded season two soundtrack boasts eight additional tracks from the original. These include a demo version of King Princess’ “Fantastic,” a remixed collaboration between Stray Kids, Young Miko and Tom Morello titled “Come Play” (by Kordhell), and a Bloodpop remix of Ashnikko’s “Paint the Town Blue.
