As a die-hard Yellowstone fan, I can hardly contain my excitement as we approach the return of our beloved series. The anticipation has been palpable for years now, and the wait has only made the show more enticing. After the first half of season five left us all hanging, I was ready to bid farewell to Dutton Ranch and its inhabitants. But, it seems that fate may have other plans!
The eagerly awaited finale of “Yellowstone” is set for this weekend, yet there are subtle signs suggesting that it might not truly mark the end.
Back in late 2022, I was left hanging as my favorite series ended halfway through season five. Fast forward two years, and it’s finally time for the second half! The journey has been prolonged due to several setbacks, one of which was the departure of our leading man, Kevin Costner, from the show. Initially, we were told that these remaining episodes would wrap up the series, but now there are whispers that a sixth season might be on the table with Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser potentially returning to the screen.
As I stood amidst the bustle of the New York premiere on Thursday, I couldn’t help but reflect on the season finale of our show. Pondering to The Hollywood Reporter, I admitted, “You never know if this is the end or not, so we’ll see. But I think what [creator] Taylor [Sheridan] crafted and the way he tied up all the loose ends, it’s simply marvelous. If this is the end, then it’s been an incredible journey, one of my favorite roles.
He mentioned that regarding their characters, Rip Wheeler and Beth Dutton (played by him and Reilly), there’s a wealth of material to explore. There are no boundaries or limitations with them. As long as Taylor has something unique in mind, I believe Kelly and I would both be keen to continue the story.
According to Cole Hauser, both he and Kelly Reilly have expressed enthusiasm about the possibility of a sixth season of Yellowstone, as there seems to be a lot more storylines to delve into concerning the characters Beth and Rip.

The main cast members of the show, who might have completed their part in the series, seemed somewhat introspective following the shooting of highly confidential episodes. These scenes were scripted and plotted in such a clandestine manner that not even the entire film crew was privy to the details.
Luke Grimes, portraying Kayce Dutton, expressed relief that they managed to complete the series despite numerous challenges. These included COVID-19 interruptions, strike periods, and Kevin’s absence. It’s amazing we finished the show at all, he noted, but what I’ll miss most are the people involved.

Grimes added his thoughts on continuing the series without John Dutton, portrayed by Costner. He acknowledged, “It’s tough to envision the show without him, but that’s where it was destined to go. The question was always, can these kids manage without him? So we all knew it would eventually happen, just not when or how. It turned out differently than expected, but it escalated the series to its peak, and now everything begins to fall apart.” Bentley, who portrays Jamie Dutton, agreed, “We miss him, he’s a crucial component of the show and a wonderful presence on set.
Regarding the second part of the season commencing on Paramount Network at 8 p.m., with a repeat on CBS at 10 p.m., Kelsey Asbille, who portrays Monica Dutton, hints that it’s a fitting and well-deserved conclusion for all characters. She expresses her excitement to see the outcome and takes pride in the work accomplished during this season.
As I stood there at the Yellowstone season 5 finale premiere, chatting with THR, I found myself reflecting on the unique challenge I faced in keeping the show’s grand finale under wraps – not a soul, not even my dear family, was privy to this secret.
