Colin Jost Couldn’t Stop Laughing After Some Members Of The SNL Audience Screamed An Obscenity

It’s common for someone to blurt out an inappropriate word during a Saturday Night Live show, usually it’s either a cast member or the host who does this. However, this time around, it was some overly enthusiastic audience members causing the ruckus. The performers on stage found the whole situation quite amusing, particularly Colin Jost, who couldn’t stop laughing at the absurdity of the incident.

During a Weekend Update segment, Ego Nwodim delivered an unexpectedly hilarious skit about hosting The White House Correspondents Dinner. Instead of providing political humor, she proposed roasting the food and telling jokes that wouldn’t upset anyone. For several minutes, she engaged in deliberately unfunny stand-up comedy, focusing on food-related gags and political puns.

At one instance, she began discussing filibusters and remarked that in her personal life, she’s had enough of them due to these men not being what exactly? She playfully passed the microphone to the audience for a sort of call-and-response skit, and several women loudly exclaimed “Troublemakers!” The response took everyone on stage by surprise, eliciting expressions of shock and laughter. You can watch the entire incident here…

Kudos to Nwodim for coming up with some humorous repartee about potential fines and Lorne Michaels’ displeasure over swearing and deviating from the script. It seems neither Colin Jost nor Michael Che could have pulled that off, given their evident confusion. Che displayed a face of utter shock, while Jost couldn’t suppress his laughter in the background.

Fans of Saturday Night Live (SNL) particularly enjoy when sketches take an unexpected turn. The possibility of cast members laughing onstage or someone slipping up with an inappropriate word has been a significant allure of the show for years. However, I believe the reason it becomes so popular each time it occurs is because such incidents are relatively uncommon. If cast members were to lose their composure frequently or if someone was consistently pushing the envelope in an explicit manner, it would merely become part of the routine.

Despite Michael’s reputation for maintaining a well-ordered environment, it’s clear from decades of cast members sharing their backstage experiences that he values stability greatly. This meticulousness is evident in his preference to perform sketches as rehearsed. As a result, when something unanticipated occurs, the sense of risk and shock intensifies beyond what one might typically expect.

Instead of posting the original sketch from NBC, I’ll share the approved version. Unsurprisingly, any explicit audience comments have been removed, but the main part remains hilarious and definitely worth a watch.

If you haven’t finished watching the episode, I recommend going back to catch up. The host, Jack Black, was particularly entertaining throughout the show, and there are numerous fun moments worth revisiting. One such moment is a Weekend Update joke that humorously comments on the Morgan Wallen incident that occurred last weekend.

Next Saturday, Jon Hamm is set to host SNL, with Lizzo as the musical guest. We’re in for a terrific show!
