Command & Conquer: Legions shows off new trailer at Gamescom 2024

  • Command & Conquer: Legion was the latest game to be showcased at Gamescom
  • Another cinematic trailer, there’s nothing of actual gameplay, but some sky-high production values
  • Still, fans will see a lot that’s both good and bad in this new trailer

As a longtime fan who’s witnessed the rise and fall of many RTS franchises, I must admit I was intrigued yet cautious when I saw Command & Conquer: Legions at Gamescom 2024. The cinematic trailer looked stunning, no doubt about it, but my heart skipped a beat when I saw the lack of actual gameplay footage.

Once again, Gamescom 2024 is proving to be a powerhouse of gaming news, and I can’t help but share another exciting revelation! This time it’s Level Infinite that’s grabbing my attention with Command & Conquer: Legions, the mobile adaptation of the timeless RTS franchise. Regrettably, there’s not much exclusive footage to share this time around, but a brand-new cinematic trailer has been unveiled!

The game retains all the classic elements from Red Alert, such as the Psychic Dominator, Apocalypse Tank, and Kirovs. However, it has a less exaggerated visual style compared to games like Red Alert 2. Notably, players might be disappointed that Natalya instead of Boris will represent the Soviet faction as the main character.

Regarding the gameplay aspect, it’s yet to impress, however, it certainly highlights the impressive production quality that Level Infinite is investing in their latest real-time strategy (RTS) games. But whether this high production value will appeal to Command & Conquer fans will depend on how well the game performs when it’s finally released.

In name only

There’s a concern about creating RTS spin-off mobile games because RTS enthusiasts appreciate the unique aspects of this genre. For instance, Feral Interactive’s adaptations of the Total War series continue to be popular, while Total War Elysium has taken a backseat. Similarly, Command & Conquer: Legions might face the same fate, but only time will tell.
