Conservative Media Voice Matt Walsh Goes Undercover as DEI Trainee in ‘Am I Racist?’ Doc

As a devoted fan of thought-provoking documentaries and insightful commentary, I’m excitedly looking forward to the release of “Am I Racist?” featuring conservative media personality Matt Walsh. Growing up in the ’90s, I recall an era where race was seldom discussed extensively or seemed to matter much in our daily lives. However, times have changed, and it’s crucial for individuals like me to engage in uncomfortable conversations and broaden our understanding of societal issues.

In an upcoming documentary titled “Am I Racist?”, conservative commentator, podcast host, and media figure Matt Walsh aims to tackle a complex query.

A film helmed by Justin Folk and produced by Daily Wire and Digital Astronaut is set to be their initial theatrical release for an in-house production. This thought-provoking project, referred to as a “social experiment,” will be distributed by SDG Releasing.

As someone who has spent years studying and advocating for social justice issues, I found Daily Wire’s latest documentary trailer intriguing. In it, they present Dan Walsh, who embarks on a mission to understand racism more deeply by attending anti-racism workshops, crashing intellectual dinner parties, and interviewing experts and everyday Americans. His approach is unique – he plays the role of a bumbling, zealous DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) trainee.

In the 90s childhood, race wasn’t a significant concern for you. You observed differences but it didn’t hold much importance in your life. However, as Walsh speaks in a voiceover at the trailer’s beginning, he encounters a reminder: being a white, heterosexual, cisgender man places him in a privileged position. Later, he inquires from a group of people, “Am I prejudiced?”

To unravel the mystery, Walsh embarks on an undercover investigation. Believing that getting closer to the truth requires a deeper disguise, he decides to blend in as an ally. Transforming his appearance, he dons a tweed blazer, exchanges his glasses, and puts on a wig with a ponytail, creating a scholarly look.

I was excited to be a part of the team that produced “Am I Racist?” for The Daily Wire, our second collaboration following “What is a Woman?” released in 2022. In this thought-provoking documentary, Walsh and Folk delve into the complex and evolving concepts of racism in today’s society. They explore various aspects of this issue, from personal biases to systemic discrimination, shedding light on the ongoing conversations surrounding race relations. As a co-producer, I had the privilege of working alongside Sean Hampton and Benyam Capel, with Dallas Sonnier, Jeremy Boreing, Caleb Robinson, and Ben Shapiro taking executive producer roles.

“Boreing, Daily Wire’s co-CEO, believes that there isn’t a more fitting film for the company’s initial theatrical production than “Am I Racist?” He added, “What is a Woman?,” which sparked a significant debate on extreme gender theory, paved the way for its demise. DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) is the next harmful trend in American society, similar to a virus, and Matt Walsh and Justin Folk brilliantly and humorously shed light on this issue in their film.”

The film is scheduled to hit theaters on Sept. 13.
