The upcoming crime drama titled “Costao,” which airs on ZEE5 starting May 1, delves deeply into the murky underworld of Goa’s smuggling rings. With its gripping storyline and action-packed scenes that ratchet up the tension, this film directed by Sejal Shah promises to keep viewers on the edge of their seats. Notable for his daring feats is the talented Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who performs thrilling stunts in the movie. In a recent interview, Sejal revealed that Nawaz was willing to take on challenging scenes, including one where he had to dive into a lake filled with crocodiles despite not being a strong swimmer.

In her chat over Zoom, Director Sejal Shah revealed that the team aimed to portray the action scenes in a genuine and realistic manner. She expressed her appreciation for collaborating with a passionate cast, highlighting the enthusiasm displayed by the actors who were keen on performing their own stunts.

Shah emphasized that the goal was to convey the genuine peril and power of the battle sequences to the viewers, a factor she feels is frequently absent in films.

Sejal pointed out Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s dedication, sharing that the actor spent multiple weeks practicing boxing and sprinting for the role. Ultimately, Shah expressed his good fortune in having worked with Nawaz for this particular project.

The director additionally disclosed that the movie features numerous challenging sequences that demanded Nawazuddin Siddiqui to exceed his personal boundaries. She further noted that Nawaz tackled these difficult situations with an extraordinary level of excitement. Notably, one risky scene featured the actor leaping into a lake, despite the potential presence of crocodiles.

In my professional opinion, when it comes to Nawaz, he’s got this unique knack for taking things into his own hands – even if it means diving headfirst into uncharted waters, literally! Despite not being a seasoned swimmer, he was determined to perform the stunt himself and gave it his all.

In addition to other points, the director emphasized an exhilarating bicycle chase scene, in which Nawaz executed all the tricks without assistance. Later on, Shah mentioned that the performer revealed to him that the bike’s brakes malfunctioned during filming, increasing the risk factor for the stunt.

Costao is a movie inspired by the true events surrounding Costao Fernandes, a customs officer from Goa. The cast includes Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Priya Bapat, Kishore Kumar Huli, Gagan Dev Riar, Hussain Dalal, and others.

Under the production of Vinod Bhanushali, Kamlesh Bhanushali, Bhavesh Mandalia, Sejal Shah, Shyam Sunder, and Faizuddin Siddiqui, the series Costao will commence streaming on ZEE5 from May 1, 2025.
