Crime Beat actress Saba Azad reveals she learnt an ‘important lesson’ from the series; says ‘journalism isn’t easy at all’

Actress Saba Azad, known for her work in “Who’s Your Gynac?”, prepares to reappear on digital platforms with the series “Crime Beat“. In this new project, she assumes the character of an investigative journalist, a role that marks a departure from her previous portrayals. Speaking about her experience, the actress and voice-over artist discussed what she learned most from the role, highlighting the immense difficulty inherent in the journalism profession.

In an interview with OTTplay, Saba Azad was questioned about whether Crime Beat had influenced her viewpoint on journalism. She responded, “What I learned is that to secure just one news story requires a tremendous amount of effort and verification.” She emphasized the many parts involved, from stringers and informants to the complex dynamics between journalists and law enforcement agencies.

The actress on the Crime Beat program acknowledged that journalism can be challenging and calls for a high level of accountability. She emphasized the necessity of striking a balance when probing crimes because various viewpoints must be considered. In her opinion, the core of news reporting involves sharing facts impartially, without personal bias or influence.

Saba maintains that journalism demands absolute impartiality, free from any hint of personal biases or political leanings tainting the facts. Her insight from Crime Beat underscored the fact that journalism is a complex and demanding career.

Crime Beat, directed by Sudhir Mishra and Sanjeev Kaul, chronicles the life-altering events of a small-town journalist, played by Saqib Saleem as Abhishek, following his encounters with a powerful gangster. Saba Azad stars opposite him as Maya, while the series also features Sai Tamhankar, Adinath Kothare, and Rahul Bhat in significant roles. Look forward to its premiere on ZEE5, starting February 21.
