Cristin Milioti Starring in Unique Horror Movie ‘Buddy’ (Exclusive)

Fresh from receiving an Emmy nomination for her role in HBO’s “The Penguin,” actress Cristin Milioti is diving headfirst into her next cinematic venture: an indie horror-thriller named “Buddy.

Casper Kelly, known for jointly developing Adult Swim series like “Your Pretty Face Is Going to Hell” and the popular horror-comedy viral hit “Too Many Cooks”, has taken on the director’s role for an upcoming movie that kicked off filming this week in Ohio.

J.D. Lifshitz and Raphael Margules are having a successful year through their production company, BoulderLight Pictures, with hits like “Companion, Friendship” and the upcoming horror film “Weapons.

Tyler Davidson and Drew Sykes are working with Low Spark Films, a film production company based in Cleveland, Ohio, which has previously produced movies like “Emily The Criminal” and “Take Shelter”. For this particular project, they will be jointly funding it alongside the production company.

The specifics of the storyline are being tightly guarded, however, the work is being characterized as a “novel take on horror.” Kelly collaborated on the screenplay with Jamie King, a writer known for contributing to the Disney+ family film titled “World’s Best.

The upcoming feature film is being created in collaboration with Sipur Studios (previously known as Bad Boy) and Substance, which represents Sipur’s inaugural investment in the horror genre. This project is likely to be a groundbreaking work, as it comes from the creative mind of Kelly who has previously demonstrated his ability to challenge genre boundaries.

For instance, Kelly created “Too Many Cooks,” a short film produced for Adult Swim that started as a humorous take on the opening credits of 80s and 90s sitcoms before evolving into a chilling slasher narrative that intertwined with the credits’ text. Additionally, he contributed an eerie commercial called “Goblin Cheddar” to the cult horror film “Mandy.

Miloti portrayed Sofia Falcone, the child of a late mobster, within “Penguin”. She shares the screen with Colin Farrell in this series. Last week, she received an Emmy nomination, along with nominations for a Golden Globe and Critics Choice Television Award.

Among her numerous achievements, she’s also known for the critically acclaimed 2020 dark comedy with a time loop theme titled Palm Springs, as well as highly praised episodes in the series Black Mirror.
