The sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, entitled Cyberpunk 2, is now in pre-production.
According to IGN, CD Projekt has confirmed that they are working on Cyberpunk 2 (formerly known as Project Orion) during their recent financial report. The game currently has 96 out of 730 developers involved, with the majority contributing to The Witcher 4. CD Projekt Red’s team in charge of the next game in the Cyberpunk universe finished the project’s conceptual phase several weeks ago, which means that Cyberpunk 2 has moved from the conceptual stage into pre-production.
Michał Nowakowski, one of the Co-CEOs, mentioned during a recent investors call that the typical development timeline from pre-production to final release for CD Projekt Red projects is about 4 to 5 years. While he didn’t specify exact years, his comments suggest that Cyberpunk 2 might not be released until around 2030, but remember each project is unique and various factors can influence the final outcome.
