Enthusiasts were delightfully taken aback when Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition popped up during the Switch 2 Direct, and their surprise quickly transformed into eagerness when it was confirmed as a launch title. Since then, demonstrations of the game running on Nintendo’s latest device have been unveiled, indicating a respectable 40 FPS performance in handheld mode.
Turns out, I’ve got some exciting news to share! It appears the final version might be more impressive, as recent reports suggest it was developed in just seven weeks for the new hardware. Gene Park from The Washington Post has verified this report, adding that it runs smoothly. Interestingly enough, he also mentioned that the game performs better on Switch 2 than on Steam Deck. This could certainly spark some intriguing conversations among gaming enthusiasts!
On the Steam Deck, Cyberpunk 2077 generally performs well, but most players find it runs at about 30 frames per second. While this is playable, fans are hoping for better performance. It seems they might get that with the Switch 2, as it’s designed specifically to handle this game. Notably, the version of Cyberpunk on Steam Deck is tailored more towards PC optimization, while the one on Switch 2 is built for Nintendo’s hardware.
With the recent overhaul of this game to an extent unseen before, there’s no question that Switch 2 users can anticipate a stunning open-world RPG at the system’s debut. Given the harrowing tales from its initial release, it’s reassuring that CD Projekt Red has continued refining this game for our enjoyment.
The title suggests it, but when Cyberpunk 2077 releases on Switch 2 in June, gamers can expect the Ultimate Edition. This version boasts all the gameplay improvements that earned praise from both fans and critics. Additionally, it includes the gripping Phantom Liberty expansion, which continues to leave fans yearning for more.
It’s safe to assume that the launch of Cyberpunk 2077 on Switch 2, happening over 7 weeks from now, will be the result of more than just a few days’ work. If you’re thinking about getting a Switch 2, take a look at this link and give pre-ordering the new system a shot.
