Prior to sharing on Instagram, Dame Dash announced that he’s ready to give away an authentic Roc-A-Fella chain to anyone willing to pay a minimum of $10 million USD for his one-third ownership stake in the iconic label. In a video posted online, Dame asserted that only he has genuine Roc-A-Fella chains and any official one must be approved by him initially. He stated that it was only him who ever handed these out, mentioning artists like Ye as recipients of the chain directly from his neck.
Dame is selling his one-third ownership share in Roc-A-Fella which contains the rights to JAY-Z’s debut album Reasonable Doubt. His announcement comes after JAY filed a notice that the rights to the album would go back the artist in 2031. Dame clarified to potential buyers that a piece of the company was on sale, not the copyright. This means that whoever buys the share of the company will own the rights to the album and still be able to make a revenue off the album for the next seven years before it goes back to Hov, as stated in his first contract with the label.
In the video about the company, Dame is looking for genuine offers: “If you’re interested in purchasing one-third of Roc-A-Fella Inc., you need to be prepared with some capital. Any offer over $10 million will be sweetened with an original Roc-A-Fella chain from my collection. Since I was the only one who gave out Roc-A-Fella chains when the company truly existed, a genuine chain can only come from me. These are authentic pieces, like the ones I gave to Kanye, Cam’ron, and others. If you don’t receive a chain from me, it’s not an official Roc-A-Fella chain. In other words, these are the real deal.
