- DanChro ends service on September 29th

The fantasy role-playing game “Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Battle Chronicle” (DanChro) will cease operation in September of this year, marking two years since its worldwide release. This decision was announced today by the game’s directors, who explained that they could no longer provide a service experience that lives up to players’ expectations.
DanChro officially debuted in August 2023, boasting over a million pre-registrations and swiftly amassing three million downloads. Built on the foundation of the DanMachi IP and continually updated with fresh content, this RPG combined thrilling 3D battle sequences and character collection into an appealing package. Regrettably, it joins an expanding catalog of mobile gacha games that have been discontinued, despite their promising launches.
In the closing stages, DanChro is set to launch a Second Anniversary event on July 30th, which includes an exclusive original story written by the series creator Fujino Omori. This will mark the final new content release for the game. Sales of the paid Selas character will cease after maintenance on the same day, and come September, the game and all associated customer support will officially shut down across all platforms.
In the world of gacha RPGs, powerhouses such as Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail, and Blue Archive are capturing a large portion of user engagement and spending. This leaves games like DanChro struggling to maintain an audience. If developers don’t take creative risks or establish unique niches, more mid-sized gacha RPGs might encounter the same challenge.
