As a huge fan of Daniel Arsham and his unique artistic vision, I am absolutely thrilled about his latest collaboration with Justin Placek to transform his Porsche 993 Carrera S into a masterpiece. Having followed Arsham’s career for years, I have come to appreciate the depth and intricacy of his work, and this partnership with Placek only adds another layer to that admiration.
I, as a passionate gamer and automotive enthusiast, am thrilled to share that artist Daniel Arsham and custom Porsche interior expert Justin Placek have joined forces once again for an exclusive transformation of Arsham’s 993 Carrera S project car. This marks their second creative partnership, following their successful collaboration on the “Sculpture” car, which was showcased as part of Arsham’s “20 years” exhibition at Perrotin. Together with celebrated mechanic Greg Anagnostopoulos, they have crafted something truly extraordinary.
In the most recent car build, Arsham previewed the new design briefly during a Hypedrive interview. For the seats, Placek chose a Porsche 993 Hardback style with dark green leather. The seat backs are covered in a lighter shade that complements the exterior of the vehicle. It’s worth mentioning that Placek invested over 350 hours to finish the custom interior work by hand, and more than half of that time went into intricately wrapping the smaller parts.
I was thrilled to discover that Arsham’s logo graced the headrests of this custom project, meticulously created using the same techniques as Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur. As a devoted fan and proud owner of a 993 model myself, Placek expressed how personally significant this endeavor was to him. Once the interior reached completion, it would be dispatched for installation. After Arsham and Anagnostopoulos had added their final touches, the car was set to make its grand entrance at The Bridge car show in the Hamptons this coming September.
