As a long-time fan of the Daredevil series, I can confidently say that Marvel Studios has truly outdone themselves with the announcement and trailer for “Daredevil: Born Again.” The return of Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, along with the original cast, feels like a homecoming after years of waiting. The energy at D23 was electric, and the bootleg trailers circulating on social media have only added to the hype.
Marvel Studios didn’t let fans down with their reveal of Daredevil: Born Again at D23 on Friday night. The upcoming series, featuring Charlie Cox and the original cast, debuted its first trailer during the presentation, with key actors appearing on stage. This suggests that the series could distinguish itself from more recent offerings in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). While an official trailer hasn’t been released yet (so we can’t show it here), unauthorized versions are being shared on social media platforms.
The reaction to the trailer, both from those present and online fans, has been incredibly positive and ecstatic, with numerous people expressing that it seems more like a continuation of Season 4 of the original Netflix series rather than a brand new one. While we had previously seen unofficial set photos indicating Jon Bernthal’s return as Frank Castle (The Punisher), his presence at the event and the character’s appearance in the trailer have officially confirmed it.
Marvel Studios shared footage of their principal actors gathered on the D23 stage, featuring Charlie Cox, Jon Bernthal, Vincent D’Onofrio, Elden Henson, and Deborah Ann Woll.
In the teaser, the antagonist Muse, who made his debut in the comics back in 2016 and possesses both artistic talents on the street and supernatural abilities as a serial killer, is dressed in an outfit strikingly similar to his comic book counterpart. This ensemble is all-white with black ink droplets appearing to be trickling from the eye holes of the mask he wears.
Absolutely, The Kingpin has returned, having recently featured in the Disney+ Marvel series titled “Echo.” D’Onofrio was greeted with a storm of applause upon his appearance, as evidenced by a video clip shared by Marvel Studios on Twitter.
This Marvel video features the rest of the cast taking the stage.
In addition to the disclosed details from the trailer and discussion, we learn that the series will debut in March 2025. Excitingly, Season 2 has been officially greenlit for production shortly. The White Tiger character is set to make an appearance, and a sneak peek from the trailer showcases various Daredevil helmets stored in a mysterious lair – including the distinctive yellow, black, and classic red versions. This glimpse sent social media abuzz with excitement.
Suffice it to say, fans are excited.
Daredevil’s Journey Back from Cancelation
Initially, when Netflix canceled the original Daredevil series in 2018, it appeared that Charlie Cox’s tenure as Matt Murdock and The Man Without Fear had come to an end. However, persistent fan demands eventually convinced Disney to reintroduce the character, initially with minor roles such as in Spider-Man: No Way Home, then in She-Hulk on Disney+, and finally a brief stint in Echo. It was evident that fans preferred this version of Matt Murdock in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), rather than a new take on the character, and Marvel Studios wisely obliged.
At first, it appeared that Marvel was hesitant about reuniting the original cast members, including Bernthal, Henson, and Woll. However, after some consideration, Marvel decided to follow through with the plan, ensuring a satisfying reunion for fans by bringing everyone back.
Daredevil: Born Again
premieres on Disney+ in March 2025.
