Prior to the final episode airing next week, the second season of “Daredevil: Born Again” is being produced at present. The principal cast and crew are returning for another round of episodes. Initially intended to consist of 18 episodes, the first season was divided into two parts, with the second half being revamped to align more closely with the original concept of the acclaimed Netflix series. A fresh glimpse into the production of “Born Again” Season 2 continues a significant narrative arc centered around a renowned villain, hinting at an unanticipated partnership that is in development. Keep in mind, potential spoilers are included.
In the upcoming Season 2 of “Daredevil: Born Again,” a fresh collection of images showcases Charlie Cox and Wilson Bethel in their superhero personas. Contrary to expectations, it appears that Daredevil and Bullseye won’t be at odds this season. Instead, fans are guessing that Daredevil and Bullseye might put aside their differences for a while next season. As Kingpin’s Anti-Vigilante Task Force grows stronger in New York City, it seems the Man Without Fear is teaming up with another individual harboring enmity towards the Mayor. A video from the set also hints at this theory: Daredevil might be working together with someone else against the Mayor next season.
The person who uploaded the video noted that they might have witnessed a fight scene between Daredevil and Bullseye on set at some stage. With the AVTF chasing them closely, it’s possible that an unintentional truce was established during the chase. At this point, everything is speculation, but it’s exciting to see Bethel returning as the Marvel villain. Furthermore, his character now bears a faint bullseye symbol on his mask, hinting at his comic book counterpart. However, it would have been great if the rest of the suit had more closely resembled the comics, especially considering how impressive Daredevil looks.
‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Star Vincent D’Onofrio on How Kevin Feige Saved the Show
It appears that some viewers may have noticed that Daredevil: Born Again Season 1 was a blend of two contrasting ideas for the show, as it underwent a significant creative transformation during production. Notably, Dario Scardapane (known for his work on The Punisher) took over as showrunner midway through filming. While the outcome can be somewhat inconsistent at times, it’s evident that the new segments enhance the series and bring it closer to the Netflix drama style. However, this doesn’t imply that the initial creative team didn’t have a solid concept. In fact, Vincent D’Onofrio, who portrays Kingpin, expressed that they had a “strong idea.” The challenge seemed to be that this idea wasn’t what D’Onofrio and Charlie Cox believed would best suit their characters.
The concept was jointly ours with Charlie [Cox], and we both communicated this shared idea. Let me tell you, the original writers came up with a fantastic idea, an idea that was truly good. However, I’m not sure it would have worked out, given our departure from the original series. To be honest, Charlie and I struggled to comprehend how we could embody the beloved characters within the context provided to us […] We constantly encountered difficulties due to this disparity throughout the process.
It was at this point that Kevin Feige, the head of Marvel Studios, stepped in to address the situation, taking into account the appeals of the stars from the “Born Again” series. As D’Onofrio disclosed, we’re fortunate to have someone like Kevin who pays close attention and considers everything. The upcoming Season 2 will showcase the unadulterated vision of the new showrunner and writers. For now, the finale next week will offer a sneak peek of what lies ahead.
