Daredevil’s Charlie Cox Shared How The Original Version Of Born Again Handled Foggy Nelson, And I'm So Glad This Was Changed

As a longtime Marvel enthusiast with over two decades of following the exploits of our favorite heroes and anti-heroes, I can confidently say that the upcoming revival of Daredevil, titled “Born Again,” has me more excited than a kid on Christmas morning.

As a dedicated Marvel fan, I can’t contain my excitement for next year! It’s not just about the new Marvel Cinematic Universe movies like “Captain America: Brave New World,” the yet-to-be-named “Thunderbolts,” the revamped “The Fantastic Four: First Steps,” and “Blade” scheduled for release in 2025. But, it’s also about the exciting developments in the Marvel TV universe!

As a passionate Daredevil fan, I had the privilege of attending Galaxy Con alongside the cast of Daredevil: Born Again in 2022. During our conversation with Redditor CorptanSpecklez, Charlie Cox shared some fascinating insights about the upcoming series.

Despite Charlie Cox not providing details about Foggy Nelson‘s cameo in the upcoming “Daredevil: Born Again,” it’s been speculated that in the initial plan, Matt Murdock would have retired from his Daredevil role following Foggy’s demise. Given Elden Henson’s significant role in the original “Daredevil” series and their simultaneous introduction in the comics with Karen Page, it seems odd that Foggy is only rumored to make a brief appearance, whether through a flashback or depicting his death. It’s equally puzzling that there were whispers suggesting Deborah Ann Woll’s Karen, a key character in Netflix’s “Daredevil,” was never even mentioned at all.

When I heard that the production of “Daredevil: Born Again” was undergoing significant changes, I became optimistic that the chances of Henson’s Foggy and Woll’s Karen reappearing would grow. As it turned out, set videos from January confirmed both actors were returning, and Charlie Cox later expressed it as “quite emotional” when Henson and Foggy weren’t initially involved. It has also been revealed that “Born Again” will have a tighter connection to its Netflix origin rather than being in a separate universe. This news makes it even more delightful that the initial plan for a cameo by Foggy was abandoned, instead allowing him to return as a main character once again.

Alongside the previously mentioned characters, the upcoming series “Daredevil: Born Again” will reintroduce Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/The Punisher, Wilson Bethel as Benjamin Poindexter/Bullseye, and Ayelet Zurer as Vanessa Marianna-Fisk. Joining this cast are new faces like Margarita Levieva, Michael Gandolfini, Genneya Walton, Art Froushan, Jeremy Earl, and others. Dario Scardapane has stepped in as the showrunner, while Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead from “Loki” will be the main directors for this revamp.

As we anticipate the exact release date for “Daredevil: Born Again” on Disney+, don’t forget that you can currently watch the original Daredevil series on the same platform right now. The next Marvel Cinematic Universe TV show coming up is “Agatha All Along,” which debuts on September 18.
