Dark and Darker Mobile is now Abyss of Dungeons in long-awaited name change

Krafton, aiming to separate themselves from Ironmace Studios and their ongoing legal disputes with Nexon, have officially progressed with the rebrand of Dark and Darker Mobile. The game is now known as Abyss of Dungeons, suggesting that only its name (and possibly some other Dungeons & Dragons-related components) could be altered.

Ironmace Studios has been involved in a prolonged legal dispute with Nexon due to accusations that they misused trade secrets. In essence, Nexon claimed that Ironmace, founded by former employees, utilized assets or concepts developed during their tenure at the company, which were later used to create Dark and Darker.

Regardless if the situation is true or not, the lawsuit continues, and as we previously mentioned in February, there were hints that Dark and Darker Mobile might undergo a rebranding. It appears that those indications have become a reality now, given the new name Abyss of Dungeons.


No difference

Fortunately, the name change doesn’t involve any modifications to the fundamental gameplay aspects, as previously understood. Although Dark and Darker Mobile had been significantly different from the original version with its new third-person viewpoint and various adjustments, rest assured there won’t be a drastic overhaul in its entirety.

Even though this may be disappointing for Ironmace enthusiasts, they should remain hopeful that the studio’s legal disputes will eventually resolve. Once settled, fans of the Dark and Darker series can consider Abyss of Dungeons as a supplementary experience to the main PC version. Notably, there is an upcoming soft launch scheduled for June 11th in Brazil, Thailand, Indonesia, and Mexico!
