‘Dark Winds’ Season 3 Trailer: Zahn McClarnon Haunted by Avenging Monster

As a seasoned gamer of crime dramas, I can confidently say that the third season of AMC’s Dark Winds has piqued my interest like a cactus prickling an unsuspecting cowboy in the desert. The teaser trailer, reminiscent of a Navajo version of Silent Hill, has me on edge, and I can’t wait to see how the story unfolds.

The haunting tale of Joe Leaphorn, played by Zahn McClarnon, is particularly intriguing. His struggle with his past demons, coupled with the mysterious disappearance of two boys, promises a gripping narrative that I, as an avid viewer, can’t help but be drawn into.

Moreover, the fact that over 90% of the cast and crew are Indigenous people adds a layer of authenticity that is often lacking in such productions. It’s like playing a game where the characters feel real, the setting feels alive, and the storyline resonates deeply.

And let me tell you, as someone who’s spent countless hours navigating through virtual worlds, I can’t help but find humor in the fact that even in a thrilling drama like Dark Winds, a severely wounded character is having trouble getting a phone signal. It’s almost like real life!

I’m eagerly counting down the days until March 9, when the third season premieres on AMC and AMC+. Until then, I’ll be here, waiting with bated breath… and maybe replaying some old crime games to keep the anticipation going.

In the thrilling teaser trailer for AMC’s “Dark Winds,” released last Friday, I, as a devoted fan, find myself gripped by chills, as the enigmatic character I play, Joe Leaphorn (portrayed by Zahn McClarnon), grapples with a spectral figure from my past, a childhood bogeyman that has returned to haunt me in the third season.

In the trailer for the third season of the noir thriller, we see Leaphorn looking troubled by his own inner struggles following an incident where he left B.J. Vines (John Diehl) stranded in the desert to perish. He confides, “As a child, when I attended school, we were told that monsters roamed the world. When you take a life, it stays with you. I’ve come to terms with it. And I am ready to carry on, day by day.

Later, Tribal Police Officer Jimmy Chee (Kiowa Gordon) attempts unsuccessfully to reach a badly injured Leaphorn over the phone while his companion faces a menacing predator intent on tracking and killing him.

The third series, consisting of eight episodes, continues six months following the incidents of season two. Navajo police officers, Leaphorn and Chee, are tasked with solving the mystery of two missing boys. All that remains are an abandoned bicycle and a blood-stained patch of ground where they last were seen.

Simultaneously, Bernadette Manuelito, portrayed by Jessica Matten, is trying to adjust to her new surroundings, which are 500 miles away from where she grew up. However, she inadvertently uncovers a hidden network of crime involving human and drug trafficking, with serious consequences that extend beyond her immediate community.

The 70’s-themed drama, “Dark Winds,” produced by Robert Redford and George R.R. Martin, has been renewed for a third season by AMC and their streaming partner, AMC+. This decision was made following the success of its second season, which ranked among the top 10 cable dramas in the previous year.

As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share that starting March 9, “Dark Winds” will grace our screens on both AMC and AMC+. This season is inspired by the captivating Leaphorn and Chee novels penned by Tony Hillerman. Deanna Allison and Elva Guerra are also part of this exciting cast. Interestingly, more than 90% of the cast and crew for season two are Indigenous individuals. Can’t wait to see what this new season has in store!

I’m thrilled to share that some fantastic newcomers are joining the cast for season three! Among them is Jenna Elfman, who will bring FBI special agent Sylvia Washington to life. Bruce Greenwood takes on the role of Tom Spenser, while Raoul Max Trujillo steps into Budge’s character. Last but not least, we have Tonantzin Carmelo playing border patrol agent Eleanda Garza. Can’t wait to see these talented individuals enrich our favorite series!

Graham Roland, known for his role as Jack Ryan, is the creator of the series titled “Dark Winds“. In this production, John Wirth, famously recognized for his work on “Hell on Wheels”, serves as the head writer or showrunner.
