It appears that fans can’t help but adore every move made by Jason Statham on-screen, finding immense pleasure in his films. From brutally taking down villains to sharing heartfelt scenes with fellow actors, the British thespian has won over many hearts since debuting in “Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.” In his latest project, “A Working Man,” Statham teams up once more with director David Ayer from their collaboration on “Beekeeper,” delivering another raw action-thriller. Ayer believes he understands why viewers can’t get enough of a classic Statham film.
In an interview with Steve Weintraub from Collider, Ayer expressed that he believes the appeal of Jason Statham’s films lies in their relatability, as Statham seems like an ordinary individual we can all recognize. As Ayer put it, “He has that everyday quality.” This characteristic is prominently showcased in “A Working Man“, where not only does Statham portray a former Royal Marine Commando, but also a construction foreman striving to support his family. Isn’t this something many of us can empathize with?
He might be a familiar figure such as a father, uncle, or neighbor. Since we feel like we have some connection with him, it gives us a sense of satisfaction to see him take action against these vile individuals. In a way, he serves as our defender, not just someone in a movie but someone who seems real and close to us.
