As a die-hard Marvel fan, I can’t contain my excitement with a brand new Marvel Cinematic Universe entry hitting theaters this weekend! Whenever a new Marvel movie or Disney+ series arrives, one thing you can almost always bet on is the introduction of fresh characters at the Avengers Campus. This hub of all things Marvel at the Disneyland Resort is bursting with characters from every corner of the MCU. The arrival of the upcoming Thunderbolts will mark the first appearance of Red Guardian at the Avengers Campus, and I must say, David Harbour seems to be the most thrilled among us!
Previously, the Disneyland Resort announced its intention to incorporate Red Guardian into Avengers Campus on May 2nd, coinciding with the launch of Thunderbolts. Now, we’ve been treated to an incredibly enjoyable video featuring David Harbour exploring Marvel Land at Disney California Adventure. In this video, he encounters various superheroes, but it isn’t until he finds a particular someone that his excitement really builds.

As a movie enthusiast, I could easily spend the entire day immersed in this video! The electrifying jubilation emanating from David Harbour and Red Guardian is spot-on. Harbour’s expression says it all. That genuine hug feels like they’re long-lost buddies reuniting after years apart.
It’s only natural that David Harbour’s excitement might be genuine, considering the emotional impact it often has on other actors and creators when they see their characters brought to life in Disney Parks. Seeing Red Guardian stroll around Avengers Campus alongside Captain America, Black Widow, Spider-Man, and others must be a pretty amazing experience for him too.
It has been officially confirmed which Marvel characters will join Disneyland next, and they are none other than the Fantastic Four. Once their film “Fantastic Four: First Steps” hits theaters this coming summer, you can find them in the parks as well. However, there’s a slight twist – they won’t be at Avengers Campus but instead within Disneyland’s Tomorrowland area. This choice makes sense given that the futuristic vibe of the Fantastic Four movie aligns with Tomorrowland’s design aesthetic. In fact, I proposed months ago that the Fantastic Four would be a great fit for Tomorrowland due to this very reason.
One potential drawback of all the new characters joining Avengers Campus is that they tend not to stick around for too long. Specifically, Red Guardian will only make brief appearances. The exact duration of his stay isn’t specified yet, but with Disneyland’s 70th anniversary kicking off in a fortnight and the next Marvel film not releasing until July, let’s hope he sticks around for at least a couple of months. I bet many fans will be as thrilled to see him as David Harbour was!
