David Harbour’s Busy Schedule is Why Violent Night 2 Has Not Started Filming Yet

As a die-hard fan of David Harbour and his electrifying performances, I couldn’t be more thrilled to hear that “Violent Night 2” is on its way! It’s truly a testament to Harbour’s versatility as an actor that he can breathe life into such a diverse range of characters, from the enigmatic Chief Hopper in Stranger Things to the unconventional Santa Claus in “Violent Night.

David Harbour, who stars in the action-fantasy-thriller “Violent Night,” has confirmed that a sequel is in development. Interestingly, the writers of the film suggest that delays in the sequel might be due to David Harbour himself.

In a recent interview, it was confirmed by Pat Casey and Josh Miller that they were promoting ‘Sonic the Hedgehog 3’. During this conversation with Screen Rant, they also discussed their forthcoming project which will bring back Harbour’s interpretation of Santa Claus. Despite the busy schedule due to Sonic’s box office success, these writers found time to discuss the sequel to ‘Violent Night’.

Speaker: “We’re making good progress towards finalizing a draft, so we’re off to a great start. It can be a bit of a distraction to have Sonic 3 being released at the same time as our deadline, but I guess it’s one of those minor issues.” [Laughs]

Casey: “Absolutely, once we wrap up these morning’s interviews, we’ll dive straight into the work on ‘Violent Night 2’. I’m really looking forward to it and I think it will be a blast. Unfortunately, we don’t have a release date just yet, but everyone is eager to start production as soon as possible. Hopefully, we’ll have more concrete details soon. However, scheduling around David Harbour is tricky at the moment due to his involvement in other big franchises that seem to take precedence over us for some mysterious reason.

They’re actually right. Harbour is currently very busy. His voice work in Creature Commandos, the adult animated show in the DCU, seems to be Harbour’s priority, along with Stranger Things 5 coming next. Also, in 2025, Harbour will be re-entering the MCU with Thunderbolts*, the Marvel Studios film based on the comic books of the same name.

It’s possible that “Violent Night 2” could be the next film on Harbour’s list of projects, but at this point, it’s premature to make predictions. In the interim, Casey and Miller might also be working on “Sonic 4”, as a sequel has been announced and it already has a scheduled release date.

‘Violent Night’ Is the Perfect Christmas Movie for Those Who Are Tired of the Same Old Movies

In the movie “Violent Night,” Harbour portrays an unusual version of Santa Claus. On Christmas Eve, while Santa’s visiting homes, driving under the influence, he unexpectedly shows up at a grand estate where a family is celebrating. Simultaneously, criminals seize the family and request a $300 million ransom. One of the family members is Trudy, who wishes for family harmony. Upon learning this, Santa decides to protect her and her kin from the gang, which is headed by a man reminiscent of “Mr. Scrooge.

This movie, titled “Violent Night,” deviates from the typical formula of a family-friendly Christmas movie. Instead, it offers an unconventional blend of ultra-violence and humor in the form of an action comedy. Unlike traditional Christmas films, Santa in this story is portrayed as a heavily intoxicated, possibly unwashed figure who isn’t shy about using strong language. This film is ideal for viewers seeking a refreshing change from the usual holiday fare, such as “Grinches,” “Home Alones,” and “Christmas Vacations.” Interestingly, it pairs well with “Die Hard” on a double bill, another action movie that, despite Bruce Willis’ claims, can be considered a Christmas classic.
