As a gamer who’s been around the block a few times, I can confidently say that the latest Marvel cinematic extravaganza, Deadpool & Wolverine, has truly outdone itself. The way they’ve managed to resurrect NSYNC’s “Bye Bye Bye” and make it a global sensation once again is nothing short of genius. I mean, who would have thought that the world would be dancing to boy band moves in 2024?
As a long-time fan of both Marvel movies and ‘NSYNC, I must say that the recent crossover between these two worlds has truly been a delightful surprise. Growing up in the late 90s/early 2000s, I was an avid follower of both the X-Men comics and ‘NSYNC’s music, so seeing their iconic song “Bye Bye Bye” featured in this year’s Deadpool & Wolverine sequel is a nostalgia trip like no other.
It’s obvious that fans of Marvel can’t seem to tire of the tune, given its widespread popularity and the viral dance associated with it. “Bye Bye Bye” has climbed up Spotify’s global top 20 chart and iTunes’ top 40, demonstrating its massive appeal. Furthermore, the original NSYNC YouTube channel has rebranded the song as “Bye Bye Bye (From Deadpool & Wolverine),” while director Shawn Levy has shared his excitement for the track’s resurgence on social media.
First debuting over two decades ago, the song “Bye Bye Bye” enjoyed immense popularity and peaked at #4 on the US Billboard Hot 100, even earning a Grammy nomination for Record of the Year in 2001. Often recognized as a timeless pop music gem, it has previously made an appearance in Marvel’s universe, featuring prominently in “X-Men 2” from 2003. In that movie, it annoyed Wolverine tremendously; however, Deadpool fans seem to be captivated by it.
Did Ryan Reynolds Perform That Impressive Dance Routine?
In the film, although the dance scene was distinctively Deadpool-esque, it wasn’t Ryan Reynolds himself who performed it. Interestingly, he’s recently disclosed the identity of the person under the mask, praising their skills, and expressing gratitude for their work (as shared by Ashley & Co.).

A talented choreographer named Nick Pauley is the mastermind behind them all.
Titled “Deadpool & Wolverine“, this movie is helmed by Shawn Levy, who co-wrote the script with Ryan Reynolds, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Zeb Wells. The film stars Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. They are introduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe when they’re assigned a new mission by the Time Variance Authority (TVA). This task sends them on an adventure through the chaos of various universes. Alongside them, you’ll see Emma Corrin, Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, Matthew Macfadyen, and several exciting cameos that fans will love.
