As a long-time fan who’s seen my fair share of superhero movies, I can’t help but feel a twinge of excitement when it comes to Channing Tatum’s Gambit. The deleted scene confirming his survival in “Deadpool & Wolverine” is like a beacon of hope for us X-Men fans.
In the film “Deadpool & Wolverine,” Channing Tatum portrays Gambit, one of several Marvel characters who are both heroes and villains. He aids in battling Cassandra Nova (played by Emma Corrin) and her followers within The Void. Despite the fact that Blade (Wesley Snipes) and his team are sent back to their original universes by the Time Variance Authority at the end of the movie, the outcome of Gambit’s mutant character remains uncertain. Luckily, a cut scene clarifies whether he makes it through the fight against Nova’s henchmen – and it turns out he does!

The Instagram post by actor Ryan Reynolds (who plays Deadpool or Wolverine) shows a lively image of the taciturn Cajun character, apparently unharmed after the intense battle. He is shown strolling amidst fallen figures, implying he’s been victorious in the epic struggle between good and wicked forces. As he gazes into the distance with a smile, it hints that his next destination might be his home realm.
For enthusiasts of the X-Men character Gambit, this is promising news, as it potentially paves a way for Tatum to resume his portrayal of the role within the Marvel Cinematic Universe in future projects. However, considering the circumstances, what are the odds of such an occurrence?
Will Channing Tatum’s Gambit return to the MCU?
Channing Tatum is determined to bring a “Gambit” film to life, and he’s not shy about sharing his enthusiasm for the project. In jest, he’s even suggested going to great lengths, such as endangering fluffy animals, to make it happen. However, it’s been a long-held dream of his, and he appreciates Ryan Reynolds giving him the chance to play the character in “Deadpool & Wolverine.” Still, he looks forward to the possibility of reprising the role in future projects.
Currently, Marvel holds the power over Gambit’s future, and we’ll find out if Kevin Feige and his team have any plans for the character. However, the appearance of Deadpool and Wolverine has given Gambit a boost towards entering the MCU, so it’s possible that he might still make an appearance. Remember, just a short while ago, Channing Tatum didn’t think he’d ever play Gambit in any form, but here we are today.
Additionally, Reynolds has expressed readiness to reprise his role as Merc with a Mouth should Tatum’s much-delayed “Gambit” project materialize. This could potentially catch the attention of Marvel’s top brass, considering the massive success of “Deadpool and Wolverine” at the box office. Time will tell what lies ahead, but having Gambit alive certainly increases the possibility of a movie being made, doesn’t it?
