Deadpool’s Swords Have A Hilarious Joke On Them, Because Of Course

As a seasoned gamer with years of comic book movie marathons under my belt, I can wholeheartedly say that the latest collaboration between Deadpool and Wolverine has certainly lived up to its hype. The attention to detail in this film is nothing short of astonishing – even down to the intricate engravings on Deadpool’s new swords!

Occasionally, even superheroes like Deadpool and Wolverine require updated costumes, and in the comic book “Deadpool & Wolverine“, the chatty hero receives a fresh suit, complete with a pair of witty new swords for his slashing adventures. Naturally, being Deadpool, even his new weapons come equipped with jokes.

Artistic genius Andy Park was assigned the job of designing Deadpool’s fresh blades for his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and he shared on Instagram that he aimed to enhance them for this significant occasion. This transformation included the incorporation of a substantial amount of gold across both the handles and the blades. Furthermore, he subtly paid tribute to Deadpool’s preferred sitcom. Previously, the character’s swords were known as Bea and Arthur, named after one of the actresses from The Golden Girls. The new swords build upon the joke by acknowledging all four characters from the show. Take a look for yourself.

Few viewers may have spotted the initials at the base of the swords in the movie, as they aren’t emphasized and can be hard to decipher even if noticed. Given the numerous Easter eggs in the film, Deadpool & Wolverine, it could easily go unnoticed. However, Andy Park intentionally included this detail, which aligns perfectly with Deadpool’s character, as we would expect from him.

As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but hope we’ll crack that Deadpool joke again if given another chance to watch him. At the moment, it’s unclear whether the Merc with the Mouth has a future ahead, but the Marvel Cinematic Universe is known for its unexpected twists and turns. Ryan Reynolds may have ruled out Deadpool 4, but that doesn’t rule out our beloved character making an appearance elsewhere. After all, there’s a lot of intrigue surrounding why Thor was shedding tears, and I, for one, am eager to find the answer!

In simpler terms, minor aspects such as this particular detail didn’t necessarily enhance the quality of the film, given that many viewers might not even have noticed it. However, it underscores the level of dedication and attention to detail that the team behind the scenes can bring to their work, which often results in a high-quality product. It seems that audiences have embraced Deadpool & Wolverine as such a product, as it has grossed over a billion dollars worldwide, currently ranking as the second highest-grossing movie of the year.
