Fans of Death Stranding can now breathe a sigh of relief, as Hideo Kojima and A24 have kept their word by making progress on the film adaptation. Originating from the 2018 video game that featured Norman Reedus and Léa Seydoux, this upcoming movie has secured an ideal director to tackle a complex post-apocalyptic tale filled with genuine human emotion.

As reported by Deadline, filmmaker Michael Sarnoski (known for “A Quiet Place: Day One” and “Pig”) is planning to pen and direct a film adaptation of “Death Stranding” for A24 and Kojima Productions. Currently editing his upcoming feature, “Death of Robin Hood”, Sarnoski has chosen to continue his collaboration with A24 for his next project which could potentially be his most challenging endeavor so far. According to Deadline, the film centers around the enigma surrounding the “Death Stranding” phenomenon, a catastrophic event that distorted the boundaries between the realms of the living and the dead, resulting in terrifying creatures emerging into a world teetering on the edge of destruction.

Director Sarnoski has completed work on “The Death of Robin Hood,” featuring an impressive cast including Hugh Jackman, Jodie Comer, Bill Skarsgård, Murray Bartlett, and Noah Jupe. A sneak peek at the production has been unveiled, highlighting Jackman in the lead role. As the title suggests, this rendition of Robin Hood delves into a more complex and darker portrayal of its hero’s past life. Interestingly, both “Robin Hood” and the upcoming video game adaptation share the common theme of death in their titles. Next up for Sarnoski is directing his first film based on a video game, “Death Stranding.” This movie promises to be another profound exploration of humanity and death in Sarnoski’s body of work, blending multiple genres to create a post-apocalyptic adventure set across a fragmented America.
